Be attentive with your eyes and ears like the eagle

There is a very strong connection between the ability of an eagle to see and to hear. In most cases an eagle relies more on its ability to see in analyzing what it is hearing more accurately.

It has a 20/5 vision which is stronger than the 20/20 vision in humans. However, it’s ears are not as powerful as the eyes, even though it is more powerful than what most humans are capable of listening to with their ears.

It goes for the eagle in the same way for us, as we are to be paying more attention to what we are seeing and reading in the written word of God. There are Christians who are relying more on the realm of the spirit, rather than on what is written in the word of God, concerning their daily decisions in the Christian life.

This is very dangerous, because oftentimes what is being revealed to them in the spirit, is meant for them to exercise spiritual authority over, and may not necessarily represent spiritual reality.

The comprehension of the things of the spirit requires a very accurate understanding of the scriptures. The believer in Christ Jesus who is not training and discipling the spirit man constantly in the holy scriptures, will struggle in analyzing and interpreting the things of the spirit.

A Christian prays daily for the understanding of spiritual truth. This is important as spiritual truth can only become tangible to us, as we are allowing it into our prayer lives.

Paul said:

“But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Praying in tongues helps us in searching out spiritual truth, but the written word of God establishes us in such truth. In other words, we need our spiritual eyes of understanding to be able to see through the scriptures. But a listening ear of the spirit (the heart) helps us in knowing the mind of the Father.

The eyes of an eagle are more reliable to it in analyzing what is seen. The ears can pick up sounds from afar, but an eagle relies more on its eyes than its ears, so as to get a precise analogy of what is going on around it.

An eagle’s eyes can see further away than the ears can hear. In the same manner for us as Christians, what is written is much more reliable to hold on to, than what we are seeing in the spirit.

The issue here is that the realm of the spirit is very prone to being manipulated by the devil; because he is a spirit being also, who has the ability to falsify spiritual truth, in order to deceive the people of God.

In fact, the scripture warned us about this:

“And no wonder, since Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭14‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The word to “masquerade” suggests that he is capable of disguising himself with the intent of deceiving those, who are not paying careful attention to what is written in the holy scriptures. And even when you are being attentive to what is written in the scriptures, Satan will still try to deceive you from accepting it as the truth.

This means that it is our responsibility as Christians to be testing whatever we are hearing or seeing in the spirit, as Holy Ghost filled believers in Christ Jesus. We test it with what is written and by praying in our prayer language to the Father, for the clarification of what we have received by the spirit.

There is nothing that we ask of the Father in this way, that He does not respond to by answering us.

That’s why the scripture says again:

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.”
‭‭I John‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It is our Christian duty to be searching out the things of God. God expects us to do this at all times through prayer and intercession, in understanding what the holy scriptures says about those things.

If you are not being spiritually violent in your prayer life, the devil will constantly deny you access into spiritual truth. That’s why Jesus said:

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It is those who are able to exercise spiritual authority violently, that are gaining access into spiritual by force, despite every opposition from the devil. They are forcefully advancing God’s Kingdom on the earth.

You are unstoppable

Open up to see and hear in the spirit

The eagle’s ears are covered with tiny feathers behind its eyes. Its ears are invisible to the naked eyes. The tiny feathers are meant to protect the ears of an eagle.

The feathers also serve as the filter to the ears of an eagle. The tiny feathers help the eagle in filtering out the sounds, so as to be able to identify what is heard.

As Christians we need to be filtering out the filthiness around us always. The devil is very good at disrupting or distorting what a Christian is listening to from the Lord. He has the ability to be in both the heavens and on the earth at the same time.

Just because you are filled with the Holy Ghost and standing in God’s presence doesn’t mean, that the devil cannot try to distract you from listening very carefully to the voice of the Lord.

We are responsible for using our authority in the name of Jesus in dealing with the devil, if he ever shows up while we are in God’s presence. All the authority in the heavens and on the earth has been given to us, to use in silencing him. Use it against him; and use it violently.

It’s therefore imperative to train the spirit man and protect yourself by praying in the spirit always; especially if you do have the call of God over your life. The enemy will try to distract you from that calling by attacking your family members, so as to keep you away from walking in constant obedience to God.

Praying in the spirit gives you the supernatural protection from the attacks of the enemy. It will protect you and all your loved ones from the attacks of the enemy.

Jesus never said that you will be free from the attacks of the enemy. In fact, He said:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ ‭NIV‬‬

An eagle Christian is always excited to face troubles, because he or she knows that the victory is already won. The troubles are just the steppingstones into greater heights in Christ Jesus.

It’s just like an eagle that sees or hears the sound of a storm coming its way. It will not fly away from its course, as some other birds will do. An eagle will mount up into the skies to position itself above the coming storm. It sees it as an opportunity to take a ride on the wings of the wind or storm.

A storm or tornado is a joyful thing to an eagle. It’s able to observe with ease from the top of the storm, all the activities that are going on below it from the top of the storm. It’s looking for the opportunities for new adventures in this way.

This is the spiritual attitude of an eagle Christian whenever trouble shows up. An eagle Christian is always looking for opportunities to advance the Kingdom of God in the midst of troubles or chaotic situations.

He or she is never moved or concerned by what the enemy is doing through the chaos. He or she sees as the eagle sees opportunities for new adventures in the midst of a storm or a tornado.

As the Apostle Paul said:

“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.”
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Whatever the enemy is doing in the attempt to destroy you, your family or ministry is a great door of opportunity for advancing God’s Kingdom before you.

As Paul said again in his letter to the Corinthians:

“But I will tarry in Ephesus until Pentecost. For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭16‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

An effective door for the ministry was opened to him, even though there were many adversaries. This happened in the same city of Ephesus where he was faced with a serious persecution, in which he was almost killed. Paul had written about this particular incident that:

“If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

In the same city where Paul had been involved in an intense spiritual warfare which nearly took his life, he had seen an effective door of opportunity in advancing God’s Kingdom. Even though there were many adversaries against him, he saw opportunities to glorify the Kingdom of God.

An eagle Christian does not seek relief from troubles and tribulations. In fact, whatever relief that he or she gets is temporary. He or she is more interested in satisfying the desire of the heart of the Father.

The desire of God’s heart was more important to Paul at Jerusalem, as he got arrested in the temple for being a teacher of the doctrines of Christ. The desire of the Father was in his heart when he went to Rome in chains for the same reason.

Paul was seeking to convert as many people as possible in the political spectrum into Christianity. He had told King Agrippa:

“ .. I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭26‬:‭29‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

However, an eagle Christian is always seeking to use troubles and tribulations, as an opportunity to stretch his or her spiritual muscles. He or she is seeking to glorify Jesus in the midst of the troubles.

Paul said about the persecution which he often had to face:

“Except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”
Acts‬ ‭20‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

None of the troubles that he had encountered in the process of declaring the gospel of Jesus bothered him. None of them moved him. He was more concerned about finishing the race in front of him faithfully.

Synchronizing what is seen and heard

Your ears and your eyes are the gateway to your heart

The ears of an eagle are covered with feathers, which makes them difficult for people to see. This is the reason why some people have often assumed that an eagle can’t hear.

The eagle however has the ability to hear and see at the same time, without compromising the data that is being received in the process. It has a unique way of coordinating the information that is being heard with the ears and observed with the eyes; in a manner that fits its purpose for hunting and soaring in the air.

Certain eagles are able to hear up to five miles away from the sky. An eagle has a perfect hearing and listening capability.

As Christians God has endowed us with the ability to see and hear clearly from Him, as the spirit man in us is tuned in to the Holy Spirit, who is longing to communicate with us at all times.

The scripture says:

“For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

An unlearned language that doesn’t make sense to the human brain, makes sense to the new man of the spirit inside of a born-again Christian. He is able to grasp the mind of the Spirit of God by praying in this way.

This is how he is able to connect one spiritual truth with another, as he or she applies such truth with the scriptures.

In the same manner as there is a correlation between what an eagle sees and hears, there is also a correlation between what we can see and hear in the spirit. Spiritual things are tangible and real for as long as our faith is in the written word of God.

God’s written word connects us with spiritual realities. A Christian who takes the eyes and ears away from God’s word will be lost in the spiritual world. Faith in God’s word or promises helps us to stay connected with God.

The Bible says:

“So, then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Faith comes by hearing God’s word. But you have to keep on hearing His word for your faith to become productive. You can’t just live on hearing God’s word once only and expect to live on that one-time experience for the rest of your life.

Faith has to keep on coming to the heart or to the spirit man, until it reaches a level that causes it to overflow, so that we can be able to receive what we are believing God for. And it comes by hearing God’s word and by paying attention to it, with our eyes being opened widely to His written word.

King Solomon wrote:

“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭20‬-‭22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The word to incline” here means to bend over with the purpose of carefully examining what is heard. Solomon went further by advising that we should keep God’s word in between the eyes. He meant here that we should be reading it day and night.

By so doing we shall be able to keep it within the heart. It is what your eyes is looking at daily, and your ears is listening to, that will eventually occupy the center of your life. This is how God’s word brings healing and good health to the body. The word of God that is in our heart is the seed of God’s love to us.

We can see here, how what we hear in the spirit and by the Spirit connects us by faith in the will of God, as we keep His written promises in between the eyes and in our ears.

Our spiritual eyes and ears have to be sharp in order not to miss out on spiritual truth. We are to be searching out the mind of Christ by the Spirit and in the spirit, so as to be able to soar higher in God’s purpose on a daily basis.

There are many opportunities awaiting you in the spirit as a Christian, if you will yield your spirit man to be seeking the face of the Father every day, in prayer and through His written word.

Such opportunities will get you to the place where your faith can begin to enlarge your territory. You will overcome, if you will become diligent in listening with your spiritual ears and seeking with your spiritual eyes into the scriptures. Start doing it today!
