As the people of God, we are the only ones on the earth, who do have the ability to determine the destiny of the nations. No nation on the earth can stand in prosperity without the prayer and intercession of the Christians who are living in it.
As Christians we alone do possess the weapons which can be used in spiritual warfare, so as to intervene in the affairs of the nations. It’s just as every nation on the earth does have an army with the weapons for physical combat and warfare, that can be used in dealing with other nations whenever conflicts arise between them.
And just as each nation has the right to protect herself with such physical weapons, the Christians who are living within each nation of the world also has the ability, to protect their own nations with the weapons of spiritual warfare.
We are involved in a spiritual warfare with an invisible enemy worldwide. And it’s only in the spirit and by the Spirit that this spiritual warfare is going to be won:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places”.
Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
The invisible enemy that we are confronting in this spiritual warfare primarily operate from the spirit realm and not physically. Our enemy acknowledges that the only people on the earth, who has the power to stop him are the believers in Christ Jesus.
He knows that the prayer of the believers in Christ Jesus has the ability to put an end to what he is doing. He therefore continues to do everything possible to create divisions and confusion within the nations of the world, so as to hinder and prevent the effectiveness of the prayers of the righteous people of God.
The Bible says:
“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
James 5:16 NKJV
When the people of God in any nation are standing in righteousness together, so as to pray and confess the sins of their nation before God; the devil knows that they will be forgiven and healed by the Lord God.
The Bible says again that:
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
II Chronicles 7:14 NKJV
God will move to heal and deliver any nation whose righteous people are gathered together for prayer. He will heal that nation. The angel of destruction will bypass that nation, and the protection of that nation will be secured with the Lord God.
It’s important to note here that the Bible holds the Christians who are corporately gathering together, responsible to pray on behalf of the sinners in their nations.
As Christians we do have the responsibility before God to pray and intercede, on behalf of the people of our nations, who don’t even have a clue about what is going on around them.
The spiritually strong do have the responsibility to be praying for those, who are spiritually weak or dead within their nations.
For:
“We who are strong ought to put up with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves”.
Romans 15:1 NABRE
There is no excuse for not being involved.
We do know that even in the affairs of the nations, if any nation does have the weapons to fight with; but refuses to use them while being attacked by another nation.
Such a nation will suffer defeat and humiliation, while those who are in charge of the army will be blamed, for their inaction to defend the nation.
And that’s the reason why nations do have armies that are constantly being trained, to protect the territorial integrity of their nations.
A nation with an army that is not battle ready is weak. Soldiers have to constantly be involved in military drills, so as to improve on the skills that they do possess. A soldier who is not involved in such military drills will have himself to blame for being defeated on the day of battle.
The same thing goes for us as the soldiers for Christ. A Christian who is not engaged by praying and interceding in the spirit and by the Spirit, is not going to be in tune with this spiritual warfare.
Christians who do know what can be done to stop the enemy on the pathway of the destruction around them, but who are just folding their arms instead of engaging the enemy in this spiritual warfare, will never reign victoriously on the earth.
As the people of God, we are in His Kingdom to reign with Christ Jesus on this earth. You are not in God’s Kingdom to be a spectator. But you are an important and significant participant in this spiritual warfare, as a soldier for Christ Jesus over your nation.
Jesus had said:
“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”
Matthew 11:12 NKJV
Our enemy is using violent tactics with political and social maneuverings, to force and manipulate Christians to comply with him. His goal is to prevent us from using our spiritual authority through prayer against him. He knows how powerful you are as a child of God. He is doing everything possible to stop you from being spiritually violent against him.
You are in the battle front already, whether you like it or not. And there is nothing else you can do now, but to fight with your weapons of spiritual warfare (see Ephesians 6:10-18).
In this spiritual warfare, we don’t compromise with the enemy. And neither do we ever have the time for dialogue or negotiations with him. There is nothing like making peace with the enemy, because we know that he does not understand it.
Jesus said we have to forcefully stop him through the use of our spiritual violence against him in this warfare. And if Jesus said it, that means the victory is already ours.
God is going to hold every believer in Christ Jesus accountable for what they are doing, with the spiritual weapons of warfare that they do have within them to stop the devil and his cohorts.
Jesus said:
“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you lose on earth will be loosed in heaven. “Again, I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.””
Matthew 18:18-20 NKJV
We can see how effective the prayer of binding and loosing can be when Christians are gathered together in agreement to pray. These words of Jesus highlights this for us. When we come together to pray in His name, we will receive the answer to our prayer.
No time for games. The battle is real.
Interestingly enough it’s the person who wins spiritually during this warfare, who will eventually determine the course of the nations.
And as Christians we are already in the Kingdom of God on this earth. This basically means that you don’t have an option not to be involved in this spiritual warfare.
The moment you became a Christian, you automatically became enlisted as a soldier in God’s army. You can’t say that you can’t fight in this spiritual warfare. Neither can you say that you don’t know how to fight.
The devil sees you as a soldier for Christ, whether you like it or not. And that’s the truth. He will fight you without showing mercy or having any pity on you at all. The devil knows nothing about mercy or pity, because such things don’t exist in him.
You as a child of God will need to recognize him, as your enemy in this spiritual warfare. This means that you can either choose to be victorious or become the casualty in this warfare.
There are a lot of Christians who do love the Lord, but who are not diligently seeking His face, about what is going on around them. Many had become the casualties for not diligently seeking the face of the Lord concerning their nations.
You don’t need to be one of them. You have to be spiritually engaged so as to save your own life, the lives of those around you and your nation.
From the moment when you acknowledge your enlistment into God’s army, the Lord is ready and waiting to help you out in defeating the enemy, with the use of your spiritual weapons of warfare. He will teach you how to fight every battle, until your eternal victory is secured.
He had said:
“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So, we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:5-6 NKJV
Don’t ever allow the enemy to prevent you from praying and interceding, for those who can’t pray for themselves. The devil’s strategy is to intimidate you with fear.
A soldier has to be bold, otherwise the enemy will use all kinds of intimidation tactics with fear, to prevent you from being bold in fighting against him:
“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.”
II Timothy 2:3-4 NKJV
A Christian soldier lives not to please himself, but his Commander in Chief – Jesus Christ alone. A real soldier does not have time for many things in this world, because they are distractions to him.
The battle may be hard and tough, but the soldier knows that tough and hard times don’t last forever. Victory has already been guaranteed in this spiritual battle by Christ Jesus.
There is an intensive spiritual warfare going on right now to control the nations and the people of the world with fear.
The devil is fierce and furious against all the peoples of the earth. That’s why he can afflict and attack anyone, who is not standing right with his weapons of spiritual warfare.
You can’t afford to be sloppy with your Christianity in the midst of what the evil one is doing worldwide against the people of God.
Reigning with Christ Jesus over the nations.
The most important thing that we can do as Christians is to become intercessors, so as to be praying and interceding about these spiritual issues on behalf of the nations.
In this way we are determining the destinies of the nations. We are hindering and preventing the plans of the enemy from being carried out, as we are praying in the spirit over the nations of the world.
And the amazing thing about this spiritual warfare is that you don’t have to be physically present in any nation, so as to be praying and interceding for that nation. You can pray and intercede on behalf of any nation wherever you are right now.
The Bible says:
“And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
Revelation 12:17 NKJV
You do have the testimony of Jesus Christ, and the devil (the dragon) knows who you are. He recognizes you in the spirit, as the offspring of the woman.
Besides that, he can see the mark of Jesus Christ on you. Therefore, if you are living your Christian life in complete obedience to the Lord, the devil is after you. He is seeking to eliminate you from the earth.
So, you don’t have an excuse not to be involved in this spiritual warfare. If you decide to sit down and fold your arms doing nothing, then you are vulnerable and may become his casualty.
The Bible says again:
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”
I Peter 5:8-9 NKJV
The best thing that you can do is to resist the devil, by being steadfast and constant with your faith declaration. You believe with your heart and therefore you are confessing with your mouth, the same thing that you do believe concerning your healing and deliverance.
Don’t let the devil steal the testimony of Jesus from your mouth. Keep on declaring what Jesus had already done for you.
In this spiritual warfare the angels of God and of the devil are fully involved. But it’s the Christians on the earth who are actually determining the course of the warfare itself, through their prayer and intercession.
The angels of God are depending on you to be praying and interceding on the earth. Your ability to pray and intercede on the earth gives them the power to do a lot of things for you.
Every word of God that you are declaring on the earth, empowers the angels. They can only act on the earth when you are testifying, about what Jesus had already done, as it’s written in the scriptures with your mouth.
You can’t afford to be sloppy with your confession of faith. Don’t be like those who have made a shipwreck of their faith. They will say one thing that the Bible says about their situation, and later on say what the devil is doing with their mouth.
Whenever you are declaring what the devil is doing, you are empowering him to continue to afflict people with whatever he is doing.
Watch the confessions of your mouth and guard your heart diligently (Proverbs 4:23).
You are the very source of life or death to those who are around you. You can bring the breath of the life of Christ with your confession of faith to heal your nation.
Do you know that we are to be praying without ceasing in this spiritual warfare?
The Bible says:
“Pray without ceasing,”
I Thessalonians 5:17 NKJV
Do you also know that it is possible for you to be in the prayer mood, even while you are sleeping?
This type of attitude in prayer and intercession as you are sleeping, makes it difficult for the devil to go against your mind and thoughts; because as long as you are praying, he can’t do anything to target you.
This is even more effective as you are praying in other tongues while lying down to sleep. The devil does not understand what you are saying, and what’s on your mind at that time. He can’t handle you, and he will be forced to flee away from you in terror of what you are doing while you pray.
If you are concerned about many things as you are falling asleep, the devil will use those things to target your mind while asleep. That’s why many people do have bad dreams.
But when the mind is preoccupied with the thoughts of God, you are bringing Him into the situation while praying in this way.
The Bible says:
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
Philippians 4:8 NKJV
You have to train yourself to meditate on the things of Heaven, as you are falling asleep. It will keep your mind steadfast on the victory of Christ Jesus. Prayer is your spiritual strength.
Keep on standing in the victory.
Finally, the Bible made us to understand how we are going to win in this spiritual warfare:
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”
Revelation 12:11 NKJV
You overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb as you commit to taking the holy communion, so as to protect yourself and those under your spiritual authority. The blood of Jesus Christ is the spiritual covering over your household and your community.
Your priesthood ministry over your community is displayed by your steadfastness and commitment, to be doing this on behalf of the unsaved within it. You are laying a strong foundation for the salvation of the lost souls around you by doing this.
Secondly, you must not allow a sloppy testimony of Jesus through your mouth. You can shut the mouth of the devil in this way, by being steadfast with your confession of faith.
The more you are constant and steady with your testimony of Jesus, you will eventually get into a situation where your spiritual ears will become completely deaf to the devil’s thoughts.
This is because you are growing stronger with your confession of faith. The enemy may try to get to you, but you are completely spiritually deaf to his voice.
The only voice that you are hearing is the voice of the Holy Spirit. And the voice of the Holy Spirit will always bring the testimony of Jesus to you.
And that’s what you need to keep on confessing. Whatever the Holy Spirit is testifying to you about Jesus, should never depart from your mouth. Keep on confessing it. It’s the key to your victory.
In that way you are able to keep the devil far away from you. Your Christian life becomes a threat to him, because he does not know what you are going to do next against him.
Thirdly, don’t ever leave an opening for the enemy into your life, as this spiritual warfare wages on.
That’s why you don’t love your life on the earth to the extent of compromising with the system of this world.
When you compromise, you are leaving the door open for the devil to come through that door of compromise against you. And any door into your life that is being compromised slightly, will be exploited by the devil.
He will open that door wider until it becomes a sin in your life. He will exploit it with the purpose of defiling you and making your physical body liable to being afflicted by him.
Remember that Elijah ruled the nation of Israel with prayer and intercession. The Bible says about him:
“And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.””
I Kings 17:1 NKJV
He was not the king, but his words overruled the words of the king of Israel. King Ahab looked everywhere for Elijah, but the Lord had hidden Elijah away from him:
“Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” So, he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.”
I Kings 17:2-6 NKJV
The Lord did this so as to make the testimony of Elijah stronger and to protect him in the midst of the famine.
And again, the Lord told Elijah:
“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” So, he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” … So, she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.”
I Kings 17:9-11, 15-16 NKJV
On these two occasions the word of the Lord protected Elijah from what was happening in the nation of Israel. And when it was time for God’s glory to be revealed to Israel, it was the word of the Lord which came to Elijah that did it:
“And it came to pass after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth.”
I Kings 18:1 NKJV
Note that Elijah never loved himself to the extent of shrinking back from obeying the word of the Lord. That was how he ruled the nation of Israel. He was in total and complete submission to the perfect will of God.
And you can do the same thing by being one hundred percent devoted to the Lord. You can rule your nation through prayer and intercession.
The political leaders may be thinking that they are the people in charge of your nation. But in the realm of the spirit, Heaven and hell knows that you are the one in charge with your prayer and intercession.
In fact, the Bible says:
“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.”
Proverbs 21:1 NKJV
Your prayer and intercession can move the hand of the Lord over your nation or any other nation on the earth. You are more powerful than the devil. God’s word is in your heart and on your mouth. And you will have to use it in turning things around.
If Elijah could rule his world with prayer, you can do much more also, because you do have the Holy Spirit living in you. This was what Elijah never had inside of him.
Sometimes Presidents, Prime Ministers and Heads of state are thinking that they are the ones ruling their nations. But the Bible made us to understand that it is actually those who are praying and interceding, that are ruling over the nations. Are you one of them?
The Prophet Isaiah once declared to his nation in spite of their disobedience to the Lord, that:
“In that day, everyone in the land of Judah will sing this song: Our city is strong! We are surrounded by the walls of God’s salvation.”
Isaiah 26:1 NLT
Isaiah chose to declare that Judah was strong, even though people were not living right before the Lord. He used this declaration to bring God’s orderliness in ruling over Judah.
He was actually interceding on behalf of his nation. He was interceding on behalf of those who could not pray. And his declaration brought the exiles back into the land, after seventy years of captivity in Babylon.
What you are declaring over your community and your nation reveals, if you are reigning or not as king with Christ Jesus over it. Your city and your nation are strong because of your strong confession of faith over it.
A floppy sloppy confession will kill people around you. When you change your confession to start saying what the Lord had said in His word, you will begin to reign with Christ Jesus over your city and your nation.
The Lord had already said:
“He sent His word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions.”
Psalms 107:20 NKJV
This is God’s word of victory over the nations. It’s the word that the Lord gave us at Bible Vision International Ministries for the nations. And we are still declaring it over those who do believe and received this word of the Lord.
We had never ceased to declare His promise of healing and deliverance, over every individual, congregations and ministries that are partnering with us around the world.
We do believe that it is God’s word for their protection from the attacks of the enemy. How strong is your faith in declaring God’s word over your people?
You are the one who can determine the destiny of the nations. Your nation is stronger just as your confession of faith is.
It’s in your heart and on your lips. You alone have the key to turn things around for your nation. Start using it now to stop the enemy on his track of destruction.
