It is the prosperity of the Lord that enables you as a Christian, to be able to do exploits in the Kingdom of God. You were created by God to prosper; and to help in spreading the fragrance of His blessing throughout the earth.

That was the primary assignment which God gave to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. And this very mandate is still valid for every human being on earth today. God never created the earth for poverty, sicknesses, diseases, plagues, wars and all kinds of evil.

His original plan was to have the man and the woman, live together on the earth which He created in dominion and authority with the blessing. They were both (Adam and Eve) to increase, multiply and replenish the earth with the blessing, which was upon them. The Devil is the one who has made the earth what it is today.

The scriptures says about Adam and Eve at creation:

“God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Genesis 1:28 NIV

This command of the Lord to Adam and Eve was for them, to “be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it”. It was a command for them, to become prosperous in everything that they did. God’s plan for them was prosperity. Without their ability to prosper in the garden of Eden, there was no other way for them to become fruitful, and increase in number throughout the earth.

Everything that they needed was available to them in getting this mandate of God; until the serpent came into the garden to hinder them from getting it. The Devil has not changed his plan, to destroy every man and woman till this day.

Even though Christ has given us the victory over the enemy; it is still up to each believer in Christ to enforce that victory, within their individual spheres of dominion and authority. That’s how the exercise of your authority as a believer in Christ, will help you to prosper on this earth. You can’t say because Christ has defeated the enemy, then you don’t have to do anything anymore.

Of course Jesus will eventually come back to establish peace here on earth. But before that happens; you do have a mandate from God to be increasing, multiplying and enjoying the prosperity of the Lord.

Jesus desires to be able to say of you; “well done good and faithful servant” (see Matthew 25:14-30) when He returns. But it is really a matter of your own choice to either prosper or not to prosper, as you are waiting for His return. Don’t be like the servant (in the Parable of Talents) who chose to bury his one talent; because he was afraid of his master. Use whatever God has placed in your hands to increase and multiply the blessing.

No Christian can ever achieve anything in life, without the exercise of his spiritual authority in Christ Jesus to prosper himself. The blessing of the Lord makes this possible for you.

The scripture says:

“Remember that it is the LORD your God who gives you the power to become rich. He does this because he is still faithful today to the covenant that he made with your ancestors.”
Deuteronomy 8:18 GNB

The power of God’s word in your life, as a Christian gives you the wisdom into the secret riches of this earth. Your ability as a Christian to apply wisdom from God through the scriptures, is your primary key to prosperity. You have to be able to tap into your power source of God’s word.

Fruitfulness in prayer brings prosperity

Jesus said:

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”
John 15:7-8 NKJV

When you are abiding in Christ and His words are abiding in you, you will be able to live righteously in prosperity. And secondly by abiding in Him and His words abiding in you, you will be able to bear much prayer fruit.

Prayer fruit is what brings you prosperity. Being fruitful in prayer was what Jesus was referring to in this scripture text. When you are praying in accordance with the purposes of God in scriptures, your prayers works to prosper you. God’s word is the source of all wisdom in a Christian as he prays. Wisdom will always teach you how to pray.

Now, it doesn’t necessarily means that; you will need to be sprouting scriptures all the time, in order to bear prayer fruit. What this means is that your spoken words in prayer, will align with what the scripture texts says; about the particular situation that you are praying about. The secret to this has to do with your ability to base what you are saying in prayer on the scripture texts. It also means that you do have the revelational knowledge and understanding, of what the scriptures says about your situation as you are speaking words in prayer.

Words which comes without the thoughts from your renewed mind, cannot make it to heaven in prayer. This is because God needs to see that, you are not only praying in the spirit, but that your mind is also involved in the prayer, even as you are praying in the spirit or in tongues.

Such words are dropped into your spirit man by the Holy Spirit. Your mind in turn receives them from your spirit man; before it is spoken out of your mouth, after it has been decoded by your renewed mind.

God backs you up when you are praying in this way. Your prayer falls in line with His word. This is His perfect will in prayer. But you will have to put your feelings away for this to happen. Don’t let them get in the way of what you are believing God for.

Prosperity is for everyone

That’s why Solomon said:

“My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.”
Proverbs 3:1-2 NIV

Keeping and staying on course to live as a Christian by the doctrines of Christ, will give you peace and prosperity. But it is also possible to have prosperity without peace. This is the type of prosperity that the ungodly people do have. They can’t live by the teachings of the Bible. It is too hard for them. And in most cases they don’t have any understanding of it. So they can’t have peace with their prosperity. They wish that it may be attainable to them; but unfortunately it is not. There is no peace without Christ – the Prince of Peace.

When a Christian is not living by faith, the peace of God is far from his life. Faith is what justifies a Christian in making peace available for him into prosperity.

Paul said:

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.”
Romans 5:1-2 NIV

But you may be wondering; why will the Lord allow the ungodly to prosper anyway? You need to understand that biblical principles will always work for anyone, who will practice what it says. As an example the Bible teaches us to give in order to receive.

It says:

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Luke 6:38 NIV

This is a biblical principle that will work for “whosoever” (see Mark 11:23). God is no respecter of persons. His word will work for anyone who will dare to believe in it. His word will prosper “whosoever” will dare to practice what it says.

That’s why you may often see Muslims prospering; because their religion (Islam) teaches them to always give alms to the poor. It’s a teaching that was passed down to them from their forefather (Ishmael). Ishmael learnt about alms giving from Hagar; who was the maid to Sarah (Abraham’s wife).

The teachings about alms giving is what many Muslims have embraced today, with their hearts to prosper themselves. It should never be strange for a Christian; to see the Muslims prospering as they are practicing, what Abraham taught their forefather (Ishmael) to always do.

It is amazing that the Muslims do know how to religiously follow, the teachings of Abraham about giving to the poor. This is a simple basic biblical doctrine of sowing and reaping (Luke 11:41, Acts 10:4). But certain Christians today will struggle with alms giving. They think that their tithes is enough. And they think that they don’t necessarily need to be giving more to anybody. This is a very strange paradox, because Muslims don’t ever struggle to give alms; but there are Christians who will grumble and be complaining about this biblical doctrine today.

As mentioned last week your tithes only creates a viable spiritual atmosphere, for God’s blessing to come upon you (Malachi 3:10-12). It is actually the seeds that you are sowing into other people’s lives, that brings you the harvests of increase, multiplication and prosperity.

The only thing with the prosperity of the Muslims; is that it comes with no peace for them. Jesus is the Prince of peace. When a Muslim man accepts Jesus Christ into his life, he is able to experience inner peace with his prosperity.

The angel of the Lord told Hagar about the descendants of her son (Ishmael):

“He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers.”
Genesis 16:12 NIV

This clearly explains why most Muslims can’t have peace with their prosperity, until they turn to Christ as their Savior. But however the Christians should never forget, that the ungodly do know how prosper also. And it works for them just as much as it works for a Christian also. God’s word will work for anyone who is living by practicing what it says.

Even though the ungodly may prosper; but they can’t begin to have peace in their prosperity, until Jesus becomes the Lord of their lives .

That’s why as a child of God, much more is expected of you with your prosperity, than what you see with the ungodly. The stake is higher for you as a Christian before God, to live righteously as you are prospering; because God really wants you to enjoy prosperity and not endure it.

Get a mind tune up into your prosperity

Revelational knowledge with understanding is important to your proper application of wisdom. A believer without revelational knowledge of the word of God, is spiritually weak. He lacks the ability to use the wisdom of God in him to prosper his life.

The scripture says:

“A wise man is strong, Yes, a man of knowledge increases strength;”
Proverbs 24:5 NKJV

Revelational knowledge or information gives spiritual strength to the wise man. He is able to increase his ability to do exploits because of this. The biggest problem with prosperity today, in the lives of many Christians; is their inability to have enough time, in meditating on the word of God.

Revelational knowledge comes through meditation on the word of God. It is good to know the scriptures. But knowledge or the information that is not being properly processed, through meditation is never relevant to anyone for anything.

Faith will never come through the knowledge or information of the word, that is not being meditated upon. It will just be like datas that are being stored up on a computer hard drive. The only difference here is that, your brain serves as the computer’s hard drive. You need to be able to use those datas to get things done, otherwise they are useless. The proper application of your brain data, brings empowerment into your prosperity.

Again:

If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.”
Proverbs 24:10 NKJV

You don’t wait until adversity comes, before looking for something in resolving it. A believer’s failure to prosper in adversity, is due to the weak or small spiritual strength in him. A failure to meditate on the truth from the word of God, makes you weak and small in spiritual strength.

It is good to pray, but if the believer’s mind is not being continually renewed as he prays; he does runs the risk of making unwise decisions, which will cost him so much in life.

Knowledge and understanding of the will of God is good; but what is acquired through knowledge and understanding, needs to be applicable in renewing the mind of the believer as he prays. That’s why knowledge and understanding needs to be revelational.

A doer of the word of God gets the mind renewed as he prays. That’s why the Spirit of obedience is very important, so as to continually hear from God as you are praying. Your acts of obedience will bring you prosperity. Constant obedience to God keeps your spiritual ears open, in hearing from God always.

Most religious people are not doers of God’s word. They love to keep the traditions of men, above the word of God in their lives. They can’t obey God’s word because; even though they are hearers of the word, their hearts are not softened enough to do what it says. In many instances their world views dictates their level of obedience to God’s word. They are the “I don’t care hearers” in the Church. It is not everyone who is hearing the word preached in your congregation; that are really the hearers of God’s word. The real hearers are the doers of God’s word.

It is the word of God which brings illumination to your heart, as you are praying during the difficulties of your life. God’s word becomes your light, into understanding what to do, and how to apply wisdom in resolving problems.

Renewed mind produces wise thoughts

A renewed mind will always be sensitive to the signals, from the spirit man of a born again righteous child of God.

King Solomon wrote:

“The proverbs (truths obscurely expressed, maxims) of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: To know [skillful and godly] wisdom and instruction; To discern and comprehend the words of understanding and insight, To receive instruction in wise behavior and the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, Righteousness, justice, and integrity; That prudence (good judgment, astute common sense) may be given to the naïve or inexperienced [who are easily misled], And knowledge and discretion (intelligent discernment) to the youth, The wise will hear and increase their learning, And the person of understanding will acquire wise counsel and the skill [to steer his course wisely and lead others to the truth],”
PROVERBS 1:1-5 AMP

Solomon mentioned about “the discipline of wise thoughtfulness” in this Amplified scripture texts translation. That’s the kind of discipline that comes through the renewal of the mind.

The mind is the processing center of your thoughts. It has the ability to control what you do on a daily basis. That’s why you must renew it after getting born again, so that you may start enjoying the benefits, of the blessing of the Lord in prospering your life.

Your sanctification begins as you purpose in your heart, to start renewing your mind after the miracle of your salvation. The enjoyment of your prosperity is only relevant to the mind, and subsequently the body, and not to the spirit man. Your spirit man however needs your sanctification for the renewal of your mind. This is very important for every Christian, who desires the prosperity of the Lord.

If the mind of a Christian is not renewed, his prosperity will become dubious, tricky and shaky; because such a Christian runs the risk of not only harming himself. He will be a danger to the people around him also.

A renewed mind knows the acceptable, good and perfect will of God

I have often seen Christians who are struggling to recognize the will of God for their lives. This is because even though they are born again, their mind is not yet renewed. They do love the Lord. They are committed to local Church congregations; but the mentality of the unsaved world is still in them.

The thoughts of their minds are not yet disciplined, to obey the thoughts of God from their born again spirit man. The thoughts of God brings the wisdom of God, to the renewed mind for practical applications. And God’s thoughts are higher than, the thoughts of our minds (Isaiah 55:8-11).

So the believer with a mind that is not yet being renewed, is living in the Kingdom of God with the mentality of their unsaved world about prosperity. That’s why you will often see him making wild, sloppy and “goosey” decisions in life about careers, marital partner’s choices, material things and the list goes on. He really want to do the right things; but his mind is not well renewed to recognize the good, acceptable and perfect wills of God (Romans 12:2) for his life.

He is the type of believer in Church, who will rather copy others for prosperity. His mind is not yet renewed in identifying, what the perfect will of God is for his own personal life. Instead of renewing his mind in discovering, the perfect will of God for his life, he will rather take a short cut by copying others around him.

In most cases such a Christian is weak in faith, because even though he does has faith, he is not using his faith to prosper in God’s perfect will. He often ends up not living in his own dream and vision. But he finds himself living in other people’s dream.

So he is struggling in the Church to live a prosperous life; because his mind can’t accept what his spirit man is telling him. He wants to do the right things, but he finds himself always doing the wrong things in life (see Romans 7:13-25).

I remember an evangelist who many years ago wanted to be a Pastor; because he saw that was what everyone around him in the ministry were doing. In several attempts to plant a Church he was always failing; because he was never anointed by God to be a Pastor. He never found fulfillment in the ministry until he became an evangelist. That’s when he discovered God’s special gift in his prosperity.

Another lady once tried to get married to a Minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Every attempt failed, because she actually could not catch up with the demands of being in the ministry. She wanted a Preacher as husband, because that was what all her friends wanted also. She tried but she was never successful, because she just would not fit into it.

You can’t take what the crowd around you, is doing as God’s will for your life. You will be making a big mistake for doing that. Godly prosperity doesn’t come in that way.

This lady eventually found joy in marrying a successful Christian business man. That was the will of God for her life; but she had wasted many years of her prime in life, praying and waiting on the Lord for the wrong person.

We can mention about Christians who had made career decisions based on this type of premise also. They want to follow what others are doing in their Churches, as the will of God for them to successes in life as Christians. This is wrong also. You’ve got to know God’s perfect will for your life. And wherever God has planted you, He will always prosper you right there. Just keep on renewing your mind, until you start seeing the light into what the Lord has in store for your life. The light of God will surely shine, in overcoming the darkness around you, as you continue meditating on His word for the renewal of your mind.

The mind is not your brain

But in the process of renewing the mind, you must acknowledge that your mind is not your brain. Many had often made the mistake of confusing both of them. The mind uses the brain to function; but the brain can never use the mind.

The mind analyses datas from the brain, in the decision making process, as it is being renewed with the word of God. It is able to identify the negative datas from the brain, and filter them out through the process of “the discipline of thoughtfulness”. Your mind has everything to do with your subconsciousness.

Your subconscious mind makes everything that you say and do, to fit into a pattern consistent with your believe system in God. That’s why the renewal of your mind is very important to your faith confession. In other words you can have whatever you are confessing, just as you are renewing your mind.

And just as I had pointed out above, the law of faith confession will always work for, “whosoever” (Mark 11:23) will believe to start practicing it.

You have creative power in you

Remember that when God created the heavens and the earth, he gave words to Adam and Eve not just to create things through confessions. God has given His words to you also for power. The word of God in your renewed mind, is in agreement with what comes out of your heart, to release the power of your spoken words in creating things.

The Bible says about Jesus:

“(Jesus) who being the brightness of (God’s) His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,”
Hebrews 1:3 NKJV

The words of Jesus upheld everything He said to become what was said. The power of His words created healing, deliverance, resurrection and gave life to all things. And you have the same power source in your renewed mind also.

Jesus said:

“Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.”
Luke 10:19 AMPC

You have the power of God being stored up in your mind, as you are renewing your mind daily. Just as the same power can work through your spirit man; it can work through your renewed mind also.

The words of your renewed mind and your spirit man, causes the release of the power of God; through you in creating things that are already given to you by God in His promises, as you are declaring those things with spoken words.

You must understand that the brain only stores datas for the mind to use; and those datas are in the forms of words, images and shapes. The renewed mind has to process such datas into spoken words of power, with the help of your born again spirit man. Therefore your brain and your mind are the most vital elements in you, that must be changed for you to start living a lifestyle of prosperity as a Christian.

The brain is part of the visible, tangible world of your body. Your mind is part of the invisible, transcendent world of your thoughts, feelings, attitudes, beliefs and imaginations. Your brain is the physical organ mostly associated with your mind and consciousness, but your mind is not confined to your brain.

Your renewed mind therefore permeates every cell of your body, to prosper you physically and mentally, and not just to enrich your brain cells with datas. Your mind has tremendous power over all your bodily systems. That’s why you can renew your mind for the healing of your body, with healing scripture texts. Every time you are doing this, power is being stored up in you to bring you physical healing, as you speak words of healing to your body. This is how your daily faith confessions works to prosper you.

And it is not all the datas that the brain stores up, that are necessary for your prosperity. You need only the datas that are relevant to your prosperity in renewing your mind.

So keep on renewing your mind. It’s how your faith will get stronger and rooted in God’s promises for your financial prosperity, the healing of your body and your peace with God. Very soon the world around you will start coming to ask you, where you got the power to prosper financially, and to be healthy while others are falling sick around you. And you will then be able to teach them what you are doing.

God wants you to be a living demonstration of the saving power of Christ. Don’t hold back. Put God’s word to work in your life. Start living in the rich blessings that belongs to the believers in Christ. That’s how the light of your life will attract many to your God. Your light will begin to shine brighter than ever before.
