King Solomon once wrote that:

Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise:
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭30:24‬ ‭NIV‬‬

These four things are so small, and they may seem insignificant to us. But they do have great lessons of faith for us, in the way that they do go about their regular activities. It is those very things around us, which we don’t pay so much attention to; which God often uses in pointing us towards the solutions to most problems.
And if you are really struggling to obey the call of God over your life right now; you may be able to find a pathway into your breakthrough, by studying the lifestyle of these creatures. In most cases the answer that you are searching for, may be right there under your nose.

As Apostle Paul once said:

“..God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

These four things that King Solomon mentioned are powerless, yet they can accomplish great things that do often amazes us. They have no ability to do many things as you can; but they are “extremely wise and successful” in the use of their God-given skills, within their own spheres of influence. They can’t cast a vision, yet they can use those skills to meet their expected end results. These four things never went to school to learn what they are doing, yet many scholars around the world are daily studying to learn from them.

You may be struggling to accomplish certain goals in your life right now. Or you may be in the middle of a project, that has become like a “white elephant”; which is going nowhere before your very eyes. There is a lesson for you to learn from these little creatures.

King Solomon highlighted the abilities of each one of these creatures in the subsequent verses which followed; but in verse 27 he mentioned that:

The locusts have no king, Yet they all advance in ranks;”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭30:27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The GOD’S WORD translation of the Bible puts the same verse in this way:

“Locusts have no king, yet all of them divide into swarms by instinct.
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭30:27‬ ‭GW‬‬

This translation reveals to us that the instinct from God Almighty, is what leads and guides the locusts (like all other creatures), in doing whatever they are doing. If the locusts can react swiftly, and in unity to the instinct from God; we as Christians do have a higher responsibility before God, to respond by faith to His word for us. God speaks always to us, so that we may live and create things, through His spoken word to us. His word gives us faith to live by. Everything that God does for us, He does through the power of His spoken word.

Jesus said:

“..The words that I speak to you aren’t mere words. I don’t just make them up on my own. The Father who resides in me crafts each word into a divine act.
‭‭John‬ ‭14:10‬ ‭MSG‬‬

The same Father who lives in Jesus also lives in you, to craft each spoken word of His to your heart into divine acts. It is through the word of faith from your mouth that miracles, signs and wonders do take place. But for the locusts they have to depend on the instinct from God in leading and guiding them. When we speak the word of God by faith then miracles, signs and wonders takes place. You can speak your solutions into the divine acts to resolve those issues. So stop pondering on what to do now. Just start speaking the faith-filled words, that God has planted in your heart to solve your problem. God needs someone who is physically living on this earth, to start speaking His faith-filled words to change situations. You are the one that has been chosen to receive and start speaking those words. So what are you waiting for.

The Message translation reveals much more to us from the same verse 27 about the locusts.

It says:

…locusts—leaderless insects, yet they strip the field like an army regiment…”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭30:27 MSG‬‬

The locusts do have no leader or leadership skills like most armies of the world. But as each one of them receives an instinct from God; they are well able to organize themselves together, as an army of devastation to do what the Lord wants them to do. Leaders in the modern world do often go to schools, in acquiring the skills needed to lead others. Some others are mentored into the leadership positions by other people. Just because someone has gone through some trainings or mentorship programs, is not a guarantee that he or she will be a proof producer of what had been received.

In God’s Kingdom the Holy Spirit living in you, will lead and show you what to do in all situations. I had seen many people in my life, with so many college degrees and qualifications; who can’t lead themselves, not to even mention about leading other people. God’s Spirit will speak the solutions that you need into your heart. The solution will either come in words or images, which you are expected to speak into divine acts. When other people hear you speak those words, God’s Spirit will move them into responding to His divine acts as you lead them.

If the locusts can respond to God’s call, so can you also

This comparison of the locusts to an army is very significant. It points to the core of God’s call to a Christian. It is one thing to be called of God. But obeying the call is something else. In most cases soldiers can’t disobey the commands of their superiors. They do have no choice, but to obey. They have no opportunity to consider the commands given to them. They just have to carry it out, in obedience to their superiors in the military.

When God calls you, He never changes His mind about that call. Since He has called you, then you are already enlisted in His army to serve Him. All that is required of you now, is to serve Him faithfully.

Apostle Paul once advised Timothy about the call over his life, when he told him:

“Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:3-4‬ ‭NASB‬‬

A real soldier never gets himself involved in civilian affairs. He serves at the pleasure, and at the will of the person who enlisted him. That was how Jesus served in pleasing the Father on the earth. Jesus said about the call of God over His life, which took Him away from His own house, as He traveled across Galilee, Samaria and Judea preaching the gospel about the anointing.

He said:

... “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8:20‬ ‭NASB‬‬

This is the mentality of the person who is in God’s army. Everywhere that the Lord sends you is your home on this earth. God has given it to you, as His army of occupation just as the locusts takes over every green vegetation, that the Lord leads and guides them to occupy. Just position yourself in spiritual authority over the land, until (Jesus) your Commander in Chief gives you the next order. Remember that you are just passing through the earth. Your real home is in the heavens (John 14:1-3; Philippians 3:20).

The call of God requires sacrifices on your part. There are many things that will have to go away from your life, for you to be fully compliant with the call of God. The reason why He has called you out, is for Him to be able to set you up into your ministry, which He had foreordained for you, since the foundation of the earth.

Many do often seek after just the prosperity message, which the gospel of Jesus does offer. They do struggle in making the sacrifices, that are required in following God and His callings for their lives; because they don’t want to go through, the suffering part of the gospel. This is mainly because of the falsehood which, the enemy is spreading around the Christian world, about the doctrine of the suffering of Christ.

Jesus addressed this concern in Matthew 6:19-34. Prosperity is the will of God for His children. But for you to be able to get it, there is the narrow pathway that you may have to take in getting you there (Matthew 7:13-14). Many just want to get it easily. Well, that easy path is (according to Jesus), what often leads them into destruction. God will never give you the prosperity that will destroy you. The Devil will always do that.

That’s why Jesus said:

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Seeking His Kingdom is to seek to follow Him daily. And as you follow Him daily, you will discover the call of God for your life. “All these things” (your prosperity included) comes to you, in part because of your obedience to the call of God. But the pathway to it is by first seeking the Kingdom and Christ’s righteousness.

You can’t put the cart before the horse in the things of God. He will surely bless you, as you yield in obedience to His call. The locusts never even resisted the instinct from God. They just move wherever God’s instinct leads and guides them. And they take joy in obeying God. It is normal for them to obey their instinct. Are you obeying the voice of God to you?

Obey His voice to you now

Has God spoken into your heart lately to do something for Him? How have you responded to what you heard? Many have heard Him before, yet they kept ignoring Him. Some heard Him but they are doing their own side shows, about what they heard from Him. They do presuppose that the things that, they are doing now in the Kingdom is the real deal. Just because everyone is doing something, doesn’t necessarily means that’s your calling as well. Stop referring to the process which God is taking you through, as your final destination. The Lord is preparing you for a ministry, that is bigger and larger than what you have on your mind now. So buckle up your belt. You are in the greatest spiritual ride of your life with God. He will get you to your destination.

God is always particular about the way you respond to His call. That’s why you have to be careful to do, only what He tells you to do. Get yourself out of that worldly mentality of obeying Him, by doing what others are doing around you. You do not need to be adding your personal opinions to what He tells you to do. Opinions don’t matter if you are in the business of the Lord. God only needs to be believed and obeyed. He cannot be moved to agree with your personal opinions. Obey His voice that’s speaking into your heart today.

You may have decided to settle down to do, what the world around you is doing (1 John 2:17); without even considering what you heard from God. You certainly have mistaken the voice of God, for the voice of the world or popular opinion. Yet God has never given up on you. He is still counting on you to return back to Him. You have tried every systems, principles, theories and methods to help you in fulfilling your calling; but they have all failed you. You are now standing at the end of the wall, thinking about the next thing to try. Hold on. God has not even started anything with you yet. Can you just slow down and stop? Listen and start seeking the Kingdom and Christ righteousness first.

You have spent twenty five or thirty years of your life with God, seeking after the wisdom of men to do the work of God. They have all failed you. But this is your moment to return back to your Father. Like the Father in the Parable of the prodigal son, God (your Father) is waiting on you to come back home to Him. He wants to show you things that you never knew before. He wants to open your heart to believe and receive the wisdom, that no man has never known before. This is your moment. DO NOT BLOW IT UP!  You see when the locusts received the instinct from God, they responded with no delay. In the same manner God expects you to respond by faith to His call now.

You are in the Lord’s army to obey His command

Is it not amazing to see how your faith is working, in doing exploits for you in God’s Kingdom? The way of the locusts is exactly how God expects the body of Christ to behave, as the Holy Spirit is being poured upon all flesh. The Prophet Joel in Joel 2:1-11 compared the body of Christ to that army of locusts. United together by the same Spirit of God, we’ve all been called to devastate the enemy’s camp. This is our mission on earth as the people of God.

In one of the plagues of Egypt by Moses, we can see how and from where the locusts do get their instinct, in organizing themselves into such a massive army, to bring devastations on the green vegetation.

The scriptures says:

“So Moses stretched out his staff over Egypt, and the Lord made an east wind blow across the land all that day and all that night. By morning the wind had brought the locusts;”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭10:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Whenever the Lord causes an east wind to blow by His spoken word, the locusts just follows the direction of that wind, to lead and guide them to where they are meant to go, in obedience to the command of God. They always receive their instincts from God in this way. And they know exactly what to do when they get to their destinations. When God commands you to do something, you will know exactly what to do, as you arrive at the destination. You can’t miss it, because God is always on time and on target.

The locusts had to relax themselves as we saw them do in Egypt, for the east wind from God to take them to where they ought to be. They never struggled with the wind. They just rode on God’s wind, as they joined their wings together in allowing the wind to carry them to their destination.

It is alarming to see how Christians often struggle with the call of God over their lives; instead of just resting in the Lord and freeing themselves in their spirit man, for the Holy Spirit to get them to where God has called them to be.

Do not forget the example of Jonah, and how he suffered until he finally obeyed God. God was not punishing Jonah for going in the wrong direction. No, God was repositioning him into the call over his life. And He’s doing the same thing with you right now. Let God direct and lead you. Don’t follow the crowd around you. Just because they are Christians like you, doesn’t necessarily means that you have to do exactly what they are doing. Your calling is unique. You are special to God. Be focused and center minded on your calling. You will get there. You will make it. The Lord will complete what He has started in you.

Unity in the call

The way of the locusts in ruling within their sphere of influence, where God has placed them is a great lesson to every believer in Christ today. They are showing us what we are capable of doing as Christians, if we can stand together as one in our positions of spiritual authority.

Nothing ever goes wrong when the locusts are together, because they are obeying the same command from the same God, whose wind is carrying them on their divine assignment. And nothing can ever go wrong when believers in Christ begin to take their rightful stance and position against the devil in unity. If we are all listening for His voice and hearing Him, then we can’t be wrong. God doesn’t ever create confusions or divisions among His people. Satan does it. That’s his trademark.

Denominationalism is the weapon that Satan uses, in setting Christians up against one another. But in reality we’ve all been commissioned by Christ into His army to devastate his camp. We are not in competition with one another, or against one another. God never called us into competitions. No, He called us into His Kingdom to compliment one another; with the goal of completing what is missing within His body (Ephesians 4:2-16) – the edification of His body. There is no competition in the things of God.

The enemy often uses the competition spirit to divide us. As an example, you see what others are doing, so the enemy uses the spirit of jealousy, to spur you into competing with them. You need to get off that dangerous zone of the enemy. It will get you off the love lane. And as soon as you quit loving your fellow believers, Satan will get you off the calling of God over your life. And before you know it, he will get you backsliding into the world of sin again.

That’s why you don’t ever compromise your calling, just because you have to stay in the love of God. Stand up strong and tall in your position of spiritual authority. And just keep standing in the love of God, doing what your Commander in Chief (Christ Jesus) tells you to do. As long as you’re obeying Him, you will be just fine.

The devil uses the party spirit or the spirit of division to create competitions among Christians. He also uses false doctrines to build up walls of denominationalism against Christians. The result is the creation of an atmosphere of weakness within the body of Christ today. And weakness is all that Satan wants Christians to see. That’s one of his lies and deceptions against the body of Christ. But in reality we are stronger than him. When we choose to stand up shoulder to shoulder, just as the locusts do as we advance against the enemy, then we will be unstoppable and undefeated. Our ability to stand in the love of God with one another, is where our strength is resonated.

Apostle John said:

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:7-8‬ ‭NABRE‬‬

In the love of God you will be fulfilling your calling. The Holy Spirit moves where there is unity in bringing revivals, saving souls, delivering the captives, healing the sick and blessing the people of God. God will never bless a mess, especially where His love is lacking among Christians. We can’t stand in our positions of spiritual authority over the nations, if we cannot be smart enough to stand strong in the love of God together. So stand and stay in the love of God, as you yield your heart in returning back to the Father, with your focus on His spoken word to you.

Position yourself in your calling and be focused on it

King Solomon said again:

“I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.”
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Being at the right place at the right time has everything to do with your ability, to always stand in your position of spiritual authority in your calling. This is very important for everyone that is born of the Spirit of God. Your ability to position yourself in spiritual authority at the right place, where God directed you to go; and to be there on time, is key to your success in what you are doing in God’s Kingdom.

Procrastination will always be the greatest enemy to your faith in getting you there. The longer you procrastinate in doing what the Lord directed you to do, the more time you give the enemy, to continually create more problems around your spiritual sphere of influence in stopping you from obeying God. And until you get into that position of spiritual authority, you can not stand at all in your calling. So stand up and stand strong. Don’t be moved by what the crowd is doing around you. You have to be found faithful by God. Keep yourself in God’s love always. Till next week – Abraham.
