The gifts of the Holy Spirit has been given to every believer in Christ Jesus, so that we can be empowered to do exploits with them. These are not just spiritual gifts; but they are supernatural weapons of spiritual warfare, that must be stirred up in the life of each Christian, as they release themselves to pray more and more in the spirit (other tongue).
They are the special weapons of spiritual warfare, which the devil and all of his forces do not know anything about. They don’t know how they work, and they don’t understand how you’re empowered, as a Christian to function with them. They are made available to you, as you yield yourself to praying more and more in other tongues.
You do have the gifts already in your life as a Christian. But you will need to be praying in the spirit on a regular basis, for you to be able to discover the amazing potentials, that are available to you through each one of them.
Their functionality is hidden to the devil, but not hidden from you. They are hidden for you specifically, so that you can search them out through prayer and intercession (1 Corinthians 12:31 & 14:1).
And as you gain access to them, you do have the responsibility as a child of God, to be using them to destroy the kingdom of darkness. If you don’t use them to advance the Kingdom of God on the earth, you may eventually find yourself grieving the Holy Spirit, who lives inside of you (Ephesians 4:30).
Get to know the purpose of each gift to you
Paul revealed to us the purpose of our weapons of spiritual warfare, when he said:
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”
II Corinthians 10:4-6 NKJV
You cannot be effective in pulling down strongholds, cast down arguments and every other high thing that are exalted against the knowledge of God; without the gifts of the Holy Spirit leading and guiding you, as you are seeking the face of God through prayer and meditation on His written word. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are meant to reveal to you, what you are confronting in the realm of the spirit, as you are praying.
They will reveal to you what your unseen enemy is plotting and planning against you in the spirit, so that you can be empowered to take the necessary action in dealing with him in the spirit and by the Spirit. These nine gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:8-10), are there to lead and guide you into the perfect plan of God for your life, as you yield to the leadership of the Holy Spirit in your life through them.
They are not carnal weapons. They are the spiritual weapons which will guide you in every way, so that you will not just be praying, without a revealed or known target of the enemy in front of you.
They are meant for you to use in striking decisively at the enemy with a blow, as you yield in obedience to them. You will know exactly what you are up against, so that you don’t ever allow the devil to sidetrack you away from God’s plan and purpose in life.
As Paul explained:
“Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.”
I Corinthians 9:26-27 NKJV
But however you can’t effectively be doing spiritual warfare, if the fruit of the Holy Spirit in your life, are not being applied together with the gifts of the Spirit for this purpose. The gifts of the Spirit are your secret weapons against the enemy.
The fruit of the Spirit in your life gives you the protection, that you need from the onslaught of the enemy against you. The fruit of the Spirit will not only protect you; but it also gives divine protection to these secret weapons (of the gifts), that you are using in the spirit against the enemy.
It’s because of the work of the fruit of the Spirit in your life, that the devil can’t see the gifts within you. He does not know how they are functioning in your life. He can only react to their effects through your application of them, but he can’t figure out how their enormous power works through you.
This is why it’s important that every believer in Christ Jesus must bear spiritual fruit. Your renewed mind is empowered by your spirit man through these mysteries, that are being revealed to it (the mind) in this way.
Your ability as a Christian to bear spiritual fruit, is also a sign that you have been able to successfully discipline your body, by subjecting it to be obedient to God. It is a sign of your total consecration unto the Lord.
Otherwise you’re going to be like a fighter who is just “beating the air” aimlessly. Paul understood what it really meant to be doing spiritual warfare aimlessly. He had been in that spiritual situation before. That was why he was able to share from his own personal experience, so that we will not have to make the very mistake that he had made before.
You’ve got to be able to fight the good fight of faith, with a revealed target in the spirit right in front of you. And the gifts of the Holy Spirit will help you to do this. Whenever the enemy is exposed to you, with the help of the Holy Spirit through the works of the gifts in your life, then the rest is very simple for you to deal with.
You will need to act in obedience to the Spirit of God, through what is being revealed to you. A lot of Christians normally wastes so much time trying to figure out or interpret, what the Holy Spirit has revealed to them; instead of just acting in faith by obeying Him, in dealing appropriately with their situations.
In many instances, while you are in the spirit, you will not have the opportunity to be doing this. They are spiritual gifts and weapons of spiritual warfare. They are meant for you to function with them, while you are praying in the spirit.
Put your faith to work for the gifts
The Scriptures gave us several examples of individuals, who were being led through them and who nearly missed God, while trying to figure them out in the spirit.
In the Acts of the Apostles chapter ten, we saw Peter in the city of Joppa being confronted with a vision from heaven. Peter tried to reason with the Lord about the vision three times, due to the religious traditional stronghold in his life about unclean animals. The Holy Spirit eventually had to intervene. And as Peter obeyed the Spirit through the gift of the word of wisdom to him, a door was opened for the gospel to be preached to the end of the earth.
The Bible says:
“Now while Peter wondered within himself what this vision which he had seen meant, behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate. And they called and asked whether Simon, whose surname was Peter, was lodging there. While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are seeking you. Arise therefore, go down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.” Then Peter went down to the men who had been sent to him from Cornelius, and said, “Yes, I am he whom you seek. For what reason have you come?”
Acts 10:17-21 NKJV
We can see here that while Peter was still trying to figure things out, the Holy Spirit (our Helper) gave him specific instruction. And as Peter obeyed the instruction and direction of the Holy Spirit, he understood clearly what the vision was all about at the house of Cornelius.
In the gospel of Matthew chapter one we saw Joseph also trying to figure out, how to get rid of Mary without putting her to shame. He loved her, but he struggled to understand her pregnancy with the Baby Jesus. An angel had to intervene at the time, because the Holy Spirit was not living in men at the time.
The Bible says:
“Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
Matthew 1:19-21 NKJV
This illustrates the uniqueness of the Ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives, as compared to that of the angels. Thank God that we don’t have to deal with angels always. God’s purpose is for the Holy Spirit to reveal the will of the Father to us, instead of the angels.
In very rare circumstances will an angel reveal God’s will for your life to you. The Holy Spirit lives inside you to guide you into the will of the Father. And He uses these nine gifts to do that.
The reason why the Holy Spirit will ever reveal anything to you is because, He wants you to deal with the situation by exercising your faith. Every gift from God is looking for a receiver. You will have to release your faith to receive from the Lord, as you are yielding to the leading of the Spirit with each gift. He knows you more than you think you do know yourself. He recognizes that you do know exactly what to do in every situation, about what He has shown to you.
It is not all the time that the Lord will tell you what to do with what He has gifted you with. He knows your level of maturity in the spirit, and He does expect you to use your faith to finish the work. When you are exercising your faith for spiritual truth, then you are growing spiritually.
You don’t need to be mesmerizing about, the mystery which the Holy Spirit has revealed to you. It’s meant for you to use your faith in dealing with the situation.
This is how you will be able to effectively bring every thought in captivity to the obedience of Christ. Your faith mixed with action produces results. This is why it’s important to live by faith in God always. Oftentimes those who are not living by faith, will end up mesmerizing about the revelation from the Holy Spirit to them.
The devil uses those moments of their mesmerization, to target them and to deal with them. He will attack them in such a manner, that they will find it very hard to recover.
Your faith is very vital to your ability to walk and act with the gifts of the Holy Spirit in your life. Stop mesmerizing and trying to figure out what the Lord is revealing to you. Move on and act by faith based on that revelation. You will never understand it until you’ve acted on it.
Stop wasting time. Act now! Faith is now! You can gain access to these spiritual arsenal that the Holy Spirit, has made available in making your life fruitful and prosperous on the earth.
