It’s real. You’re not experimenting or trying it.

God is constantly looking for those who are committed to walking, in keeping Covenant with Him. He shows Himself strong on their behalf, so as to defend and protect them; from every opposition of the enemy to the oath, that had been taken under the Covenant (2 Chronicles 16:9).

The Lord will always prove Himself strong for them in all of their affairs in this life on the earth. Their loyalty to the oath makes them God’s favorites for the blessing. Everything that they do prospers, because of the protection and the supernatural empowerment; which is available to them from above.

The Christians who delights in showing honor and respect for the Covenant of other people like them, are highly favored of the Lord. Faithful Covenant keepers are blessed of the Lord.

There is a special bond between God and those, who are walking faithfully in their Covenant relationship by the blood of Jesus. When you are walking faithfully in your Covenant relationship with God, He will be strongly committed to all your affairs in life. He will ensure that everything that you are doing prospers.

But the heart of those who are not fully committed to their Covenant, will often become an easy target for the enemy to devour. You can therefore only either be on God’s side or on the devil’s side. You can’t be committed to a Covenant relationship with God, while at the same time your heart is fully committed to the devil or other things in this world.

You of course will need to have secular dealings with the world. There’s no one who can ever escape that. Otherwise you will have to be dead, if you’re never going to have dealings with the world.

But you will need to be seeing those businesses with the world, like your secular works, schooling and other things that you are committed to in the world; as the opportunities which God has given to you, in displaying the benefits of your Covenant with Him for the world to see. God is always seeking to display His glory for the world to see. And He can only do it, if you’re faithful to walking in your Covenant with Him.

God is looking for those who are completely committed to the Covenant with Him. He wants to use them as His light into the darkness of this world. How committed are you to Him and to His word? Are you living in obedience to His word? Or you are just playing lip service to it, while really leaning towards your personal feelings and those lustful thoughts in you? If you’re committed to your Covenant with the Lord, you will always take into consideration His views, about every decisions that you’re taking on the earth

A salt Covenant is a perpetual Covenant which is unbreakable. God cannot change His word in the salt Covenant relationship with you. And He does expects you not to be changing your words in commitment to Him also. Even though people had often broken their Covenant with Him, but God has always remained faithful to His word.

In a salt Covenant there has to be an exchange of oath by those involved. The oath is the guarantee of the Covenant. God under oath had to swear by Himself in the New Covenant, because He cannot lie. He decided to put the integrity of His own Name on the line, by putting Himself under an oath in the New Covenant with you by the Blood of His Son – Jesus Christ.

Your oath is not an experiment or a lie! It’s your life..

You’re eternally bond for life

From Adam and Eve to Abel up to Noah. And also from Abraham up to David, and into the New Covenant by the Blood of Jesus; God has never changed. He has never failed. Neither has He ever disappointed anyone before. His word has always been His bond (Isaiah 55:10-11).

He was not experimenting with the Israelites in the wilderness, even as they rebelled against Him. He did exactly what He had promised to them through their forefathers. He has always stood by the words of His oath, because He would had destroyed Himself if He had lied under oath to anyone (Numbers 23:19).

Abraham as an example was evidently acknowledging the Covenant with the Almighty God, when he told the King of Sodom that:

“ .. I have raised my hand to the LORD, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth, that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich’—”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭14:22-23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Abram was not ready to break his Covenant with God Almighty, by allowing an ungodly king to take credit for God’s prosperity in his life. The Lord God had promised to bless him in the Covenant of salt. If the King of Sodom had gotten what he wanted, it would had affected Abram’s relationship with the Almighty God. Abram and God were already Covenant partner at that time.

We saw this same attitude as well in King David, who had entered into a Covenant of salt with Jonathan (see 1 Samuel 18:3-4). The Covenant with Jonathan remained valid, even after his (Jonathan’s) death. David remained faithful and steadfastly mindful of that Covenant, even after ascending to the throne of Israel as King. He was committed to it, even though the other party to it (Jonathan) was dead.

That shows to any doubter in Covenant the power that’s in it. David knew how dangerous it would had been, for him to had ignored his oath to Jonathan after his death. David knew that he would had cursed himself by ignoring his words under oath to Jonathan.

He remembered his covenant oath to Jonathan and had said:

“ .. Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
‭‭II Samuel‬ ‭9:1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Covenant was between him and Jonathan alone. David knew the consequences of breaking the oath in a Covenant. He knew that it would had affected his relationship with God Almighty also. He had to enforce the Covenant, even though Jonathan was dead.

This shows to us how Covenant minded David was. God is moved always to favor any one like this on the earth. No wonder God called David – “a man after My own heart” (Acts 13:22).

David knew that if he had not enforced his Covenant oath to Jonathan, he would had brought the curse from that Covenant upon himself and his family.

That was why he had to bring Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan into the palace to live with him as his own son. He took Jonathan’s son as his own into the palace with him. Mephibosheth had to be eating from that time onwards, at the same table with David and his children for ever. It was just as if his father (Jonathan) was reigning side by side with King David. This was in accordance with the oath that they swore with one another under their Covenant together (1 Samuel 20:16-17).

The exchange of oath between Jonathan and David was not an experiment at something. It was the real deal. Even after the death of Jonathan, this Covenant was still enforceable. Covenant oaths attaches you for life, with the person that you’ve taken the oath with. How much do you cherish the oath in your Covenant relationship?

Many people with problems in life had brought these problems on themselves, because they had broken Covenants in their pasts with people. Oftentimes the root cause of ancestral curses can be traced back to those who had broken Covenant in the family line (2 Samuel 21:1-14 and Exodus 20:5-6).

You don’t ever commit to taking an oath, if you’re not ready to commit for life to it. Covenant oath in a marriage as an example is not an experiment. It’s a matter of life and death together as you take it.

The oath guarantees the success of the Covenant

It is done and irrevocable

The taking or exchange of an oath in any Covenant relationship, is vital to the success of the Covenant itself. It ends every form of contention or argument about the Covenant. No Covenant is ever valid without the exchange of oaths.

People do exchange marital oaths for this purpose. Government officials are sworn into their positions of authority under oath, for this very purpose as well.

As the Bible says:

“It is very common for people to swear an oath by something greater than themselves, for the oath will confirm their statements and end all dispute.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6:16‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Any form of dispute at home between spouses can easily be resolved, the moment they both remember the oath that they took together. They understand that any violation of the oath can lead to the dissolution of the Covenant. It will automatically invoke the curse upon the person who is taking the initiative to violate it.

The same thing goes for government officials after an election. Every political contention ceases immediately after the elected official takes the oath of office. He becomes bond to live and act in accordance with the words of that oath.

This is why under the New Covenant the Bible says:

Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6:17-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God had to take an oath by Himself under the New Covenant. He had bond Himself to you by that oath. And God cannot destroy Himself by breaking this oath.

That’s why the devil wants you to violate the oath, that you took before God to live with a clear conscience as a Christian (1 Peter 3:15-17). He is looking for a way not only to destroy God, but all of God’s creation also.

God will bring everything that He promised in the Covenant with you to come to pass. No matter how long it may take for you to get yourself prepared for it. He is not limited by time. It took David many years to fulfill his promise to Jonathan, but at the slightest opportunity opened up for him to do it, he did it. How much more the New Covenant between you and God Almighty.

As the Bible says again:

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
‭‭II Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Don’t bring the curse upon yourself by breaking your oath

The enemy uses the thoughts of evil about sexual sins, deceitfulness with the lust for the riches or pleasures of the world, pride and greed to entice people into breaking their marriage Covenant oaths. You don’t have to take the enemy’s thoughts of evil at all.

The Bible tells us what to do about those devilish thoughts, when Paul wrote for us to:

“casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭10:5-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

You have the power in the Name of Jesus to cast down, such thoughts away from your mind. You bring it down immediately they come to you. You let the devil know that you are the master of your own body. Your body now belongs to God, and not to him.

In doing this you will have to be aggressive by saying words against those thoughts of evil. Otherwise the devil will move quickly with those thoughts on your mind, to make sure that you fall completely into sin with them. You don’t have business entertaining evil thoughts as a child of God. Cast them down with spoken words in Jesus’ Name.

You can’t cast down thoughts with thoughts. Two spiritual forces that are opposed to one another, can only be superseded by speaking words to bring the other force into subjection. That’s how you can make the devil to flee in terror of who you are.

Thoughts of evil are being entertained by many today. And the devil is using them to destroy their lives and their families. Satan had been using these thoughts for a long time to push people, into breaking their Covenant oaths with others.

Notice that Paul said in the scripture texts above, that you should not just stop there. The most important thing is in your own step of obedience, to follow the Covenant oath by living your life for it. Your very act of obedience to your own words of the oath, to live for Christ or your spouse are very important.

This has nothing to do with your feelings. You will need to put those feelings aside. The devil manipulates human feelings to push people into yielding for his temptations. And secondly feelings changes all the time. They are unreliable. The only thing that is reliable are your words under oath to the other person(s).

This act of your obedience to the word of God or to the oath, makes Satan to tremble and flee in terror of your ability to resist him and his demonic thoughts against you. Many families have been destroyed by the devil with his tactic.

Churches do have a duty to teach the members, how to live their lives in obeying God’s word; and keeping their promises to one another under oath. Christians have no business entertaining the thoughts of disobedience to God’s word from the devil.

  1. Married couples who had sinned against their marital oaths, needs to learn how to act immediately by returning back to those very words of the oath.
  2. Read the words of the oath out loud and clear. Let the devil hear you repeat those words, first to yourself and then to your spouse.
  3. Renew the Covenant oath immediately at the Communion Table together, as you exchange the oath with one another again. God will honor and bless your union as you do this.

Stop entertaining the thoughts of evil against your marital oath. Don’t give room to the devil. Resist him forcefully and he will flee from you (James 4:7). Stay in the blessing and reject the curse, for your prosperity and the future of your children. Fight the good fight of faith!
