King David once said in one of his Psalms to the Lord that:
“It is time for you to act, Lord; your law is being broken. Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path. Your statutes are wonderful; therefore, I obey them. The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.”
Psalms 119:126-130 NIV
There are a lot of recklessness going on these days in the attitude and approach of certain Christians towards the word of God. They are exhibiting a casual attitude towards Him by transgressing against His word even with impunity.
They are treating God’s promises lightly, and as a result of this type of attitude healing is eluding them.
In many instances they are not even considering it at all, that the Lord has His eyes on them. He has His eyes on their ways and watching the pathway of their lives towards self-destruction.
The fear of the Lord is no longer in them. They have indeed gone in the way of Esau, who sold his birthright for a bowl of red soup (Genesis 25:29-34). They have despised their birthrights as the children of God, just because of a moment of pleasure for the sin and evil of this world.
When Christians are treating God’s promises for their lives, as they are treating the words of men; then one can just begin to wonder what the ungodly will do if they hear God’s voice.
The ungodly will obviously tremble at the word of the Lord, even while God’s own children who have been called into the Light are taking His word casually.
There is nothing that anyone is doing as a Christian on the earth today, that God does not see. He knows all of our ways and the very thoughts of our hearts.
As the scripture forewarned us:
“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
Hebrews 10:31 NKJV
When God’s judgment begins on the earth, it is going to begin with those in the household of faith. It will begin first with those who do know the ways of God, but who have decided to abscond His ways of doing things and being right with Him, for that of the unsaved people of this world.
God uses anything to heal you.
There are those who as an example will not give any room at all in their hearts, for God’s word to work in healing them.
They are primarily trusting more in what medical science is telling them about their ailments. They are the ones who are cherishing the words of men, more than the promises of God in their lives. They know the right thing to do, but they are not ready to embrace His promises, so as to be healed.
To many of them God’s word has become like an afterthought. It’s only when they can’t see a way out of their ailments with the doctors, that they will start reading the Bible or attending Church services.
And in another situation, it’s when they get into deep financial troubles, that they will start remembering what God’s word says about financial prosperity. God’s word is an afterthought in their lives, even though they profess to be His children.
They do have numerous opportunities to grow up in knowing God intimately, but they have decided not to create the time for meditation on His promises for their healing and prosperity.
They of course will often acknowledge that God’s word is the very source of their lives, but they can’t take to heart what they are actually confessing concerning Him as their Healer.
They are not putting God’s word into their hearts, so that they can live and not die as a result of being sick.
This does not necessarily mean that God can’t use medical science to heal them. God can work through anything that He has created, to manifest His healing power in our lives. And that includes medical science also.
The only thing that He requires of us as His children is for us, to put our faith in Him and in His word to work through the process of healing in our bodies.
There are numerous instances in the scriptures when the Lord actually used medical science to manifest His glory in healing the sick (see Ezekiel 47:12; Revelation 22:2; Isaiah 38:21 and much more).
God will work with us at the level of our faith. It does not matter if you do have a mustard seed faith (Matthew 13:31-32). You can definitely move any mountain with it.
For as long as you are not allowing the world around you or even the devil himself, to distract you away from your faith walk; nothing shall be impossible for you.
Jesus once said about the man who was once attacked by the robbers, on the way to Jericho in the Parable of the Good Samaritan:
“But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’”
Luke 10:33-35 NKJV
An inn during the time of Jesus will be like a hospital for us today. Jesus would not have used the example of the Good Samaritan going to an inn (hospital), if He never wanted His disciples to go to the hospital when they are sick.
On another occasion He said to the religious people at the Synagogue:
“You will surely say this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country.’”
Luke 4:23 NKJV
What He was trying to help us to understand here, is that if we’re sick and we do need to go to the hospital, we should not hesitate to go.
That will be like your mustard seed of faith, if you decide to go. But we are not to let the devil use whatever the doctors may tell us, to disrupt the work our faith in the promises of God for healing.
What medical science does in healing the sick can’t be compared with, what God’s word can do to heal you.
The Bible said about the woman with the issue of blood that:
“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.”
Mark 5:25-26 NKJV
She had spent everything that she had to pay the doctors so as to get healed. But medical science could not help her in getting healed.
She however heard about what Jesus was doing with the anointing upon Him to heal the sick. And when she heard about Jesus, faith for healing rose up within her heart, causing her to react to what she had heard (Romans 10:17).
In other words, the testimonies about Jesus healing the sick gave her faith for healing. She then decided to put her faith in what she had heard for her own healing.
The scriptures say:
“When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.”
Mark 5:27-29 NKJV
What medical science could not resolve in her life, faith in the testimonies about Jesus did for her by completely healing her.
She had never heard Jesus preached before, but she believed those testimonies concerning Jesus from others.
She never even came to Jesus for prayer, but she settled her healing directly within herself before going to Jesus. Her faith healed her and made her whole.
That’s why it’s important to always respond quickly to the word of faith about healing whenever you hear it, because you never know when your miracle will happen.
When we are quick to obey God’s command in this way, then we will be healed. Unfortunately for some, they can’t respond in faith to God’s word.
You don’t need to feel healed before you can be healed. It’s spiritual and your feeling has nothing to do with it.
Just take it by faith and declare what you are expecting with your mouth. Faith works in the heart when we release it with words from the mouth.
A quick response with a heart of obedience by walking in the statutes of the Lord, causes His light to begin to shine in our pathway, for the process of healing to begin.
And as His light shines through our hearts, He will begin to reveal many things that will help us, to get healed, stay healthy and live prosperously in the blessing of the Lord.
An act of disobedience to God’s command is what usually causes a lot of pain and suffering to those who are sick.
It’s just as a slothful response to God’s command will cause unnecessary delay of the blessing from Him.
Healing is a free gift. Just take it!
Now healing should never be seen as a reward for our obedience to God’s word. It is a free gift that was fully paid for by the stripes of Jesus Christ. You can never do anything to deserve to be healed.
It’s a free gift for which Jesus had paid the ultimate price for on the cross at Calvary. You can never put a price tag on your healing by the word of God.
The Bible says:
“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”
I Peter 1:18-19 NKJV
Your redemption is not with silver or gold which are corruptible. Jesus gave His blood to redeem you from being sick of any sickness at all.
There is nothing that you can ever trade with God for you to get healed. In fact, God is not asking you to do anything apart from putting your faith in His promises for healing.
The perfect trade of exchange was already made on the cross by Jesus Christ. He took your position on the cross, so that you won’t ever have to go there at all. He took the painful flogging on His own body, so that you can be painless and healed in your own body (1 Peter 2:24).
The perfect exchange had been made. What remains for you to do is to put your faith in what Jesus had already done for you. You have to believe with your heart that Jesus did it all, just because He wants you to be healed.
And everything that He did were written in the Scriptures, so that you can believe in them today.
His written word is meant to help you to believe in the very acts, which He accomplished through His death on the cross and His resurrection.
You can therefore put your faith in what He did for you and be made completely whole.
But your act of obedience to the Lord’s command is a righteous step of faith for your healing.
No amount of gold or silver can ever buy healing and good health for anyone, just as money could not buy healing for the woman with the issue of blood. She believed in the words that she had heard about Jesus and decided to put her faith in the testimonies concerning Jesus.
What you are hearing about Jesus today can make a huge difference in your life to make you whole. Pay attention to it.
Live in forgiveness towards others and be healed.
I remember a very rich man who was dying of cancer in the hospital. He had traveled across the world consulting with all types of specialists, so as to get healed. His wealth could not buy him healing anywhere in the world.
Eventually he had to return back to his country in Africa to die, as the doctors could not help him anymore.
But on his sick bed in his country a Christian nurse overheard him on the phone, cursing and saying that he would never forgive one of his business associates.
The nurse practitioner discerned immediately that this man was harboring bitterness in his heart towards the business partner.
As a Christian she knew that such things could prevent people from being healed. She prayerfully sought for an opportunity to minister to the man’s spiritual need. And during a casual conversation with him a few days later, she decided to take him up on it.
She urged him to forgive the individual. She went to the extent of explaining to him what the Bible teaches about forgiveness. But unfortunately, the root of bitterness had kicked in already, preventing him from walking in the grace of forgiveness.
The Bible says we should:
“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;”
Hebrews 12:14-15 NKJV
Being bitter about people who have offended you, has the ability to affect your physical body. They are not the ones who will suffer by holding that lack of forgiveness in your heart. You are the one who will suffer most, because they may not even know how bitter you are towards them.
Bitterness of heart is one of the root causes of sicknesses and diseases. It goes directly into the bone marrow, from where the devil will start afflicting the body with sickness and disease.
It’s spiritually dangerous for you to be holding grudges against people in your heart. It’s unhealthy for your spirit, soul and body.
Take note of the phrase “the root of bitterness” as used in the scripture texts above. It’s what the devil exploits to bring affliction to the body, so as to make people sick at all times.
Watch over your heart so as to be sure that you are not harboring bitterness in it towards anyone. It will make you sick.
And it does not matter if you are a Christian or not. Once the devil sees the root of bitterness in your life, he will exploit that opening.
Don’t allow the evil that others have done against you, to create the root of bitterness in your life. Offenses will always come from people, but you don’t need to be taking them.
You see God can’t bless anyone who won’t forgive others. It’s not His nature not to forgive people. A person who can’t forgive others should not expect forgiveness also.
You will need to be living in forgiveness for you to get healed. It’s one of the major hindrances to the healing of many Christians today.
And you can forgive others by just saying these words: “I forgive …”, with the name of the person who has offended you before the Lord. You have to say it to the Lord that you have forgiven the individual from your heart.
Forgiveness is spiritual. You can do it even if the person is not around you right now. And then you can confess the forgiveness personally to the individual later.
By saying those words of forgiveness, you are releasing yourself from every sin that comes, with the absence of forgiveness in your life.
When forgiveness is released, you will experience the type of peace that only God can give in your heart (Philippians 4:7).
That’s how you can know that you are free to love the individual again.
The nurse practitioner mentioned above knew that the lack of forgiveness was preventing this rich man from being healed.
The man had offered his doctors everything including money, in an attempt to get them to save his life. But all his offers were rejected, because even money can’t buy healing.
He was finally told that he had a few days left to live. He cried and begged them to heal him, but no one could do anything further to help him.
The nurse practitioner finally made the last attempt to help him, by showing him that the lack of forgiveness of his business partner, may be the root cause of his health issues. But he was so adamant about not forgiving the business partner.
A day after the last attempt had failed he died. His wealth could not buy him healing. He came naked without anything into the world. He died without taking all his wealth to the grave with him.
King David said in the scripture texts above that he loved God’s command more than gold. Have you noticed that the riches of this world can’t get anyone healed of anything at all?
Sickness doesn’t know if you’re rich or poor. Money can’t get you healed of it. Only faith in the name of Jesus will do it for you.
Many people on the earth have died without their wealth being able to help them in getting healed. Many millionaires are dying and leaving their riches behind for people, who some of them don’t even know to enjoy after their death.
The Bible mentioned to us about a wealthy Syrian military leader (Naaman), who had leprosy all over his body. He had heard that he could be healed of the disease in Israel. So he came with a lot of gold and other riches as gifts to the Prophet Elisha.
But on getting to the Prophet the Bible says:
“And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’ Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So, he turned and went away in a rage.”
II Kings 5:10-12 NKJV
The proud heart of this rich military man nearly cost him his healing miracle. The deceitfulness of riches has the ability to make wealthy people proud.
Be very careful with your wealth. It’s spiritually dangerous for you, especially if the Lord has not prepared you to handle it. A rich man who is humbled at heart before God with his wealth, is a happy and blessed man indeed.
The Bible says:
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
I Timothy 6:10 NKJV
Money is not necessarily evil, but it can become a problem if you love it more than the word of God. A Christian can become greedy for money and allow it to take preeminence over the word of God in his life.
That’s when money becomes evil to that person. And when the “root of evil” kicks in just as the root of bitterness, then a proud heart will be the first sign of that evil in the life of that individual.
Naaman of Syria initially found it difficult to humble himself because of his wealth, in obeying the word of the Lord from the Prophet.
There are many rich people who have died because of a heart, that is not humbled before the Lord on their sick bed. It’s not God’s will for them to have died, but the pride of their riches had blinded their heart away from being humbled, to obey simple commands from God’s word.
One of the servants of Naaman finally appealed to him to be humbled, and to obey the command of the Prophet:
“So, he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.”
II Kings 5:14 NKJV
And as he obeyed, he was completely healed.
Do you love the command of God? If you do, you will be quick to obey Him, when He tells you to do anything.
But if you’re often trying to look for ways of interpreting His command, so as to fulfill the sinful lust in your life, then you will end up suffering more for it.
Forgiveness is one of the commands of Jesus to us as Christians. It’s important to obey Him and take your healing today.
As Jesus said:
“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
Mark 11:25-26 NKJV
How precious is God’s word to you today? Is it more important for you to cling to His word, than to be chasing after the riches of this world with the lack of forgiveness in your heart towards others?
Are you willing to trade God’s promises in your life, for the material things and riches of this world?
Many people are suffering with sicknesses and diseases today, because they are putting their desires for other things, above what God’s word commands them in relation to their healing.
And oftentimes it’s the believers in Christ who are doing so these days. Their mind is set on the things of this world, more than obeying God’s command to them. This has become a huge hindrance to their ability to get healed.
Silver and gold can’t do anything to help in healing you. God’s word has the power in it to heal you.
Are you ready to be free and let God’s word work through your heart to heal you. It’s your time to get healed.
Start living a lifestyle of forgiveness towards others. It will cause your healing to spring up quickly. And you will live longer on the earth in good health while serving the Lord.
