Jesus gave every believer in His name on earth the authority to use that name. The transfer of this type authority in our world today, is what is recognized in legal terms as “The Power of Attorney”. A Power of Attorney is the authority that is given to another person, so as to act on behalf of the issuer in legal or any other matters.

Jesus gave us the power to use His name on earth in the same manner. We are acting as His representative on earth today. Everything that Jesus wants to get done on earth today, He does it through the believers in His name, who has been given the Power of Attorney to act on His behalf.

The terms of the transfer of power is always included in the document that transfers that power. And how powerful that transfer is, will be determined by the value in it that is put in place by the issuer.

The Bible is the document that clearly highlights the transfer of authority to the believers. Every sentence inside it with the red ink, where Jesus reveals the transfer of such authority to the believers itemizes the transfer itself.

The value of our power as believers in His name was put on that name by Jesus when He said:

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying,All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

And again He said:

“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.””

‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:17-18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

These words of Jesus in the Bible makes the transfer of power to all believers in His name legally binding on earth, in the heavens and under the earth. This means human, angelic and demonic beings of the three worlds are bond to respond to the name of Jesus.

We must note here that the authority was given to humans only, of all the three beings.

This transfer of authority makes both the angelic and demonic beings, to wonder about the enormous power given to the believers in Christ. Humans are the last of the three beings to be created by God.

The scriptures says:

“It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. But there is a place where someone has testified: “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him? You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet.” In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2:5-8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We do have enormous power available to us in the name of Jesus, that makes every angelic and demonic being to wonder about the power and authority in us. God gave it to only the believers in that name – Jesus.

Every time we call on that name, God in Heaven sees us through the eyes of Jesus. We can use His name in getting anything that we want.

And just like any Power of Attorney, Jesus gave us the power to use His name while He was still on earth (John 16:24). In legal terms that kind of delegation of authority is binding on the receiver of the authority, since the issuer is alive and in right mind when it was issued. Jesus was yet to go to the cross where He gave us His name to use.

A dead man or a person without the ability to reason cannot do this. This will render it non binding. The power of attorney that Jesus gave to us, as Christians more than two thousand years ago, is still binding and effective in our world today.

It is a legal document if anyone with a sense of the law will examine its legality, from the point of the law in our legal system on earth today. That means Jesus literally gave us (believers in His name) the license to heal the sick, rescue those who are suffering and do the works of God on earth today. The enemy knows this, but he goes about lying to people about it. His plan is to prevent them from exercising the authority that they do have over him.

The Name of Jesus is  our unlimited spiritual supply source

We can use His name to get anything from our Heavenly Father at anytime. This means that there is no limit to what God can do for us and through us. It is like giving us a blank check with His signature on it – His name.

In granting us the power of attorney He said:

“At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.”

‭‭John‬ ‭16:23-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus gave us His name because He wants us to be joyful. What a wonderful news to know that we can use His name at anytime and for anything! And in asking we do know that we have His assurance that we will not be refused anything.

There are those who will say that, sometimes God may deny the prayer of a believer. Or that He may sometimes want us to wait a little bit, because it is not the right time to receive. Religious tradition has often hindered many from receiving what God has freely made available to believers in the name of Jesus.

When Jesus says we can ask for anything, He means that all of heaven’s resources had been made available here on earth for us to enjoy. There is no limit with God concerning what we can receive from Him. Our Heavenly Father takes pleasure in giving us all things.

Jesus said:

““Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭12:32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Everything in the Kingdom belongs to us. Our ability to use the name of Jesus gives us access into all things to enjoy in His Kingdom. His name is the key that opens the door into the Kingdom for us.

Seeing Jesus in everything

The scriptures says:

What we do see is Jesus, who was given a position “a little lower than the angels”; and because he suffered death for us, he is now “crowned with glory and honor.” Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

If we see Jesus in all that we do as believers, we will always be empowered to call upon His name in every situation of life. What we see is what we will always have the tendency to proclaim. When we see Jesus as the healer, His name will always manifest healing for us. If we see Him as the Deliverer, then His name will work to bring us deliverance in the time of trouble. The name of Jesus is able to do for us whatever we believe in Him for.

Names Identifies who we are and what we do

Oftentimes in the scriptures we see God changing the names of people, who had been chosen and called by Him to fulfill His purposes. Abram was changed to Abraham. Jacob was changed to Israel. Simon received the name Peter; and Saul of Tarsus was named Paul.

They all walked in the calling of God for their lives in accordance with the names that they received from God. Abraham was called the father of many nations, Israel – the Prince of God, Peter – little rock, Paul – the Humbled, and Jesus is Salvation or Savior. The new names identified them for what they all did.

Jesus gave us His name as the identifier for the enemy in recognizing us. The Bible says of the early believers in Antioch:

“And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭11:26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The name of Jesus and the anointing that was upon Him became an identifier for all believers in Antioch. The early disciples of Christ were recognized for doing what Jesus did. This is still the same today. The name  – Christians, connects us with what Jesus did while on earth. We are all called to live and act like Jesus every where we go. We carry the name of Jesus with us everywhere we go, and in everything that we do. His anointing manifests through our lives whenever we put His name into use.

The name of Jesus is the most powerful name that was, that is and forever will be in the three known worlds of human beings, angels and demons.

The Bible says:

“that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Faith in His Name and the Spirit of Faith works in His name

It is our faith in the name of Jesus to do what we believe Him to do as we call on His name, that manifests His power for us. Every believer in Christ has faith (Romans 12:3). And our faith always works whenever it is put into action.

As Peter puts it after the miracle of the crippled man by the Beautiful Gate:

“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The importance of our faith to work in manifesting the power of God cannot be overemphasized. We do have the seed of faith, which is planted in us through the word of God (Romans 10:17).

There is also the Spirit of faith (1 Corinthians 12:7&9), which works as a gift of the Holy Spirit through those who are filled with the Holy Spirit. Either of the two is vital for the name of Jesus to manifest the glory of God.

The gift of the Spirit of faith is a supernatural gift of the Holy Spirit. It is given at the pleasure of God to whom he wants to give it to (1 Corinthians 12:11). Faith in this manner works with other gifts of the Holy Spirit, when we use the name of Jesus. The working of miracles, healing, signs and wonders takes place in this manner.

An example of this is the miraculous healing by the Beautiful Gate (Acts 3:1-16).

That’s why it is important for us to see what we desire always with the eyes of faith, in using the name of Jesus before calling on His name. If we want healing, we need to be seeing healing by the stripes of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:24) and not the sickness.

The Devil often likes to deceive people away from their healing, by creating in their mind an image of their physical situation. He does this for the purpose of defeating them, and preventing them from receiving healing from God.

There is empowerment in what we see in the name of Jesus, through the meditation on scriptures. If you can see yourself healed, you can call yourself healed and receive healing by just taking hold of it by faith.

Faith and Hope works in the name

How do you take a hold of something that you cannot see? There is no other way apart from faith. This was exactly how Peter explained the healing of the man by the Beautiful Gate (Acts 3:16).

The Bible describes what faith is:

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Faith in the name of Jesus works through hope to manifest the expectation of the heart. Hope came into our heart when we first believed:

“We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

From the moment our faith became active when we believed, we knew that the name of Jesus whom we confessed as Lord is able to do greater things through us.

Paul again wrote to the Romans:

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭15:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Confident hope was working in Peter as he commanded the crippled man to rise up and walk. The name of Jesus works miracles in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let the Name of Jesus saturate your heart

Jesus once said:

“A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It is absolutely impossible to hide what you believe. When people come asking for prayer, and they are asked what they want from God. There had been times when some will say: “Nothing in particular” or “I don’t know”. And my response will either be to bypass such people, or tell them to start believing God for something. There is no way that they can expect someone else to stand in agreement with them, when they do not know what they want from God. Faith does not work in an atmosphere like that.

The name of Jesus is able to do anything for us, if only we will believe in His name. There is no way someone else can override the will of another believer in the prayer of agreement. No matter what anyone may say in the prayer of agreement with another person, God can only and will only honor the desire of the person in need of the agreement itself. Unfortunately many will use this to say that God never answered their prayers. No, God can never override the will or desire of any human. Get to know what you want from God, before asking believers to stand in agreement with you.

Jesus once saw a crippled man by the pool of Bethesda (John 5), who was in a situation like this. He had a  circumstantial and conditional faith in his heart for over thirty eight years about healing. He was unable to change anything in his life with that kind of image, until Jesus found him out and helped him to release his faith for healing. His only excuse was that he had no one to help him into the water on time for his healing. This man never believed God for someone to help him all of his adult life, so no one showed up to help him until Jesus came to him.

There are many people like this whose hope and faith for healing is hanging on their circumstances in life. They will blame everyone else but themselves for their troubles in life. And as long as they harbor animosity in their hearts towards others, their faith will never work. They are often holding on to anger, lack of forgiveness, disappointment and lack of trust towards others. They cannot receive from God because of this.

The name of Jesus removes every circumstances in our lives, from the moment that we believed in Him. Our lives as believers is never designed by God to be dependent on others, but on the name of Jesus alone.

The man by the pool eventually acted on the word of Jesus to him. He had the blueprint for healing, but had never been able to gain access to healing until Jesus showed up. Jesus taught him to start acting like a healed man, and to stop giving excuses. When he obeyed Jesus, he was healed.

The Name of Jesus works always

The Bible says:

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs to it and is safe and set on high [far above evil].”

‭‭PROVERBS‬ ‭18:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The righteous man is able to call on that name of Jesus, and receive what he sees in calling the name by faith. He sees himself seated on high places in the heavens with Christ Jesus in that name.

The creative power in the name of Jesus works for us, as we see ourselves in that name. We will start calling whatever we are expecting the name to manifest for us.

Not only do we need to be confessing what the word of God says about us in that condition. Our own words and personal confessions must change to match up with our heart’s desire.

When we act by calling on the name of Jesus as the healer, we will be healed. There is so much abundance in His name to give us whatever we desire.

Healing for the mind in the Name of Jesus

I remember a mentally sick lady in the last Church that I pastored in Europe. She was only taught to believe in the name of Jesus, and to fall in love daily with Jesus by seeing herself in the scriptures.

Firstly, she stopped smoking by overcoming the desire for nicotine through the reading and studying of her Bible. Whenever the desire to get some cigarettes comes upon her, she just began to read out loud to herself the scripture promises that she had written out. She learnt this by practicing scriptures on her own through the habit of a daily confession. She was delivered from nicotine. This initial victory caused her to be adamant for more victories by learning to use the name of Jesus.

As she began to learn how to call on the name of Jesus, she noticed that the evil voices and desires that were disturbing her vanished. She learned to call on the name of the Lord whenever she started hearing the evil voices.

After awhile her psychiatrist came over with her visiting nurse, to find out what prescription she was getting from Church. They found out that her sanity was returning back, but they could not explain it. We offered them the invitation to be attending our services; and to be listening to the word as they observed what we did.

Within two weeks the laboratory technician, who does a weekly blood test on this sister got saved also. She testified that she couldn’t explain what happened to the sick sister, who happened to be her neighbor. She knew she had not been taking her medication, because her blood test showed it. How she got her sanity restored became a mystery that only the name of Jesus could explain.

The Bible tells us also of Nebuchadnezzar, when he lost his sanity and how he got it restored by God. The king explained how he got his sanity back himself:

““After this time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored the one who lives forever. His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal.”

‭‭Daniel‬ ‭4:34‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Nebuchadnezzar learnt to praise and worship the Most High God. As he looked up to the name of the Lord, his sanity was restored. He learned from this to honor God and got his sanity fully restored.

Lifting up the name of Jesus can heal and deliver. It can deliver those suffering from one kind of addiction or another.

Let Jesus’ Name radiate through you

The scriptures says:

“The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1:3-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The name of Jesus is greater than any name in the heavens, on earth and under the earth. Begin to speak to yourself what you believe His name to do for you. Visualize yourself in that position of authority, and never allow the enemy to steal that image of what the name of Jesus is bringing to you.

Since we had received Jesus in our lives, we do have the very same glory of Jesus in us.

Jesus prayed for us before His ascension:

“And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began…

…I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”

‭‭John‬ ‭17:5, 22-23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

By using the name of Jesus in prayer, the glory of God manifests through us for the world to see and believe. We have Jesus inside us. That is why the authority that He gave us scares the Devil every time we call on that name.  Whenever the evil one sees you, he sees Jesus also.

No believer in Christ can ever exercise authority in the name of Jesus outside of the human body. Only the living can exercise authority in His name and not the dead. A lifeless body is of no use in exercising authority. The Devil knows this. That is why he seeks to possess any human body. But by being filled with the Holy Spirit, you are able to prevent Him.

God does nothing on earth without a living human being. That is why we all have received names which identifies us out. God knows you by your name, just as the enemy knows you as well, and he trembles in fear of who you are in Christ Jesus (James 2:19).

All you need to do as a believer is to begin exercising the authority, that you possess to walk and reign in victory here on earth from now on. Amen!

Thank you fir this. I have reinforced my faith as I ready myself to evangelize in my city. Also this is what I’ve used to dialogue with another over the internet regarding the church resting in the finished work of Christ, yet not doing anything in the culture because of believing that God is Sovereign. My stance is that we are to go forth resting in only that which Christ has done, will do, and is going to do, While demonstrating His Love by doing Isaiah 58 and 61 and Matthew 10 etc. This doing nothing in regard to culture because God is Sovereign is why the culture is going to hell. The church is packed and waiting by the door fir the rapture instead of salting the culture and beaming with the brightness of His Glory. God bless you.

Even though I haven’t finished reading thru whole passage, I am touched to know the power we possess as true believers of Jesus Christ and we should be transforming our environment with the power and authority we have at our display to change our life, and environment. Thanks, You. May His light continue to Shine on you.

Thank you for this teaching it has greatly enhanced my faith in use of name of Jesus.
I don’t know about a week ago “Jesus Name” we coming to my thinking.
I even started to sing the song “Just mention the name of Jesus, by Jimmy Swargart. I don’t know if I spelled the name right.
Any way thinking about why the name of Jesus was important made me to arrive here and I am grateful the Holy Spirit led me here. Now I have a better understanding regarding the name of Jesus and how I can use it to get my desires.

This post has enriched my faith and understanding on how powerful the name of Jesus is to me. I take authority to use this name in my daily life and also to advance the kingdom of God

This has moved my faith. Most of us we don’t know who we are in Jesus we don’t know that he has legally transferred his power in us so that we can work on his behalf to represent the kingdom of God on earth. Things will work not by our worship or any kind of conduct but his grace to legalize his name to demonstrate the power of God to save heal and deliver in the name of Jesus.
