Jesus gave every believer in His name on the earth, the authority to use His name and without any exception.

The transfer of this type of authority in our world today, is what is recognized in legal terms as “The Power of Attorney”. A Power of Attorney is the authority that is given to another person, to act on behalf of the issuer in legal or any other matters.

Jesus legally gave us the power to use His name on the earth before ascending to Heaven.

As a Christian you are acting as His representative on the earth today, whenever you use His name in prayer.

Everything that Jesus wants to get done on the earth today, He does it through the believers in His name, who has been given the Power of Attorney to act on His behalf.

Legality of your authority in His name.

The terms of the transfer of “the power of attorney” are always included in the document that transfers that power.

And how powerful that transfer is, will be determined by the value in it, which is put in place by the issuer of the power of attorney.

The Holy Bible is the document that clearly highlights the transfer of the authority to the believers in the name of Jesus.

Every sentence inside it with the red ink, where Jesus reveals the transfer of such authority to the believers itemizes the transfer itself.

The value of your power as a believer in His name was put on that name by Jesus when He said:

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

And again, He said:

“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:17-18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

These words of Jesus in the Bible makes the transfer of the power of attorney in using His name to all Christians legally binding on the earth, in heaven and under the earth.

This means that human, angelic and demonic beings of the three “worlds” are bond to respond to your use of the name of Jesus as a Christian.

We must note here that the authority to use His name was given to humans only, of all the three types of beings, who are believers in His name.

This transfer of authority makes both the angelic and demonic beings, to wonder about the enormous power which had been given to the believers in Christ Jesus.

This is because humans are the last of the three beings to be created by God.

The scriptures say:

“It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. But there is a place where someone has testified: “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him? You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet.” In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2:5-8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As a Christian you do have enormous power available to you in the name of Jesus, that makes every angelic and demonic being to wonder about the power and authority that you do have.

The Lord God gave the believers in the name of Jesus alone the authority that’s in His name.

Every time you call on that name, God in Heaven sees you through the eyes of Jesus. You can use His name to get anything that you want.

And just like any Power of Attorney, Jesus had given you the power to use His name while He was still on the earth. He said:

“Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”
John 16:24 NKJV

In legal terms that kind of delegation of authority is binding on the receiver of the authority, since the issuer of the authority was still alive and in His right mind when it was issued.

Jesus was yet to go to the cross when He gave His followers the authority to use His name.

A dead man or a person without the ability to reason cannot do this. This would have rendered it non-binding on the believers in His name.

The power of attorney that Jesus gave to you, as a Christian more than two thousand years ago, is still binding and effective in our world today.

It is a legal document if anyone with a sense of the law will examine it for its legality, from the point of view of the law in our legal system on earth today.

That means Jesus literally gave you (the believer in His name) the license to heal the sick, rescue those who are suffering and to do the works of God on the earth today in His name.

The enemy knows this, but he goes about lying to the Christians with this authority about it. His plan is to prevent them from exercising the authority that they do have over him.

You have unlimited spiritual supply.

You can use the name of Jesus to get anything from your Heavenly Father at any time.

This means that there is no limit to what God can do for you and through you, whenever you use the name of Jesus in prayer. It is like Jesus had given you a blank check to use His name with His signature on it.

In granting the believer in His name the power of attorney, Jesus said again:

“At that time, you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.”
John‬ ‭16:23-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus gave us His name because He wants us to be joyful.

What a wonderful news to know that we can use His name at any time and for anything! And in asking we do know that we have His assurance that we will not be denied anything that we ask for.

There are those who will say that, sometimes God may deny the prayer of a believer. Or that He may sometimes want us to wait a little bit for the answer to the prayer, because it is not the right time to receive.

Religious tradition has often hindered many from receiving what the Lord God has freely made available to every believer in the name of Jesus.

When Jesus says we can ask for anything, He means that all of heaven’s resources had already been made available here on earth for us to enjoy.

There is no limit with God concerning what we can receive from Him, when we use the name of Jesus in prayer. Our Heavenly Father takes pleasure in giving us all things (Romans 8:32).

Jesus said:

““Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭12:32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Everything in the Kingdom of God belongs to you. Your ability to use the name of Jesus gives you the access into all things to enjoy in His Kingdom.

His name is the key that opens the door into the Kingdom of God for you and me.

Seeing Jesus in everything.

The use of your authority in the name of Jesus, just like any “power of attorney” has the power that goes with your ability to use His name.

Jesus said:

“Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.”
Luke 10:19 AMPC

There is power to back up the use of your authority in His name. You need that power to trample over the works of the devil.

The use of your authority in the name of Jesus goes with the power in that name to back you up with the use of it against the evil one.

The power to destroy the works of the enemy is derived from the position of authority which Christ Jesus now has in your life.

This literally means the power with the use of your authority in His name will not work, if you’re not giving Him His rightful place in your life as Lord.

The Apostle Paul described how this higher power came to us when he prayed that:

“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”
Ephesians 1:18-23 NKJV

For you as a child of God to be able to gain access to the power with the use of the name of Jesus, you must see yourself as being ” seated (with) Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.”

The power that you have with your authority in His name works against the enemy, when you’re seeing yourself seated with Christ Jesus at His right hand in the heavenly places.

The power that goes with your use of authority in His name is from heaven. God, the Father was the first to use it when He raised Christ Jesus from the dead.

And Jesus expects you and me to be using His name from that position of power and authority on earth against the enemy.

The power to destroy the works of the enemy is derived from your place or position of authority in heaven with Christ Jesus.

That’s why as a Christian here on the earth you must always remember, to stay in that place or position of authority that Jesus gave to you on the earth in His name.

Your effectiveness in using the power in the name of Jesus against the enemy comes from your ability to stay in your position of authority.

James and John once tried to improperly use the authority and the power in His name, to destroy a Samaritan village that would not receive Jesus.

But Jesus rebuked them by saying:

“You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.”
Luke 9:55b-56 HKJV

The authority that we have as Christians in His name had been given to us to save lives, heal the sick and cast out demons.

Jesus told the seventy disciples in sending them out:

“And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
Luke 10:9 NKJV

That’s what every child of God is supposed to be doing with the authority that we have in His name. Anything that’s different from that always leads into one form of witchcraft or another.

it’s for this very reason that Christians need to be seeing Jesus healing the sick and casting out the demons through the application of the use of the authority in His name at all times.

The scriptures say:

“What we do see is Jesus, who was given a position “a little lower than the angels”; and because he suffered death for us, he is now “crowned with glory and honor.” Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

If you can see Jesus in all that you’re doing as a believer in His name, you will always be empowered to call upon His name in every situation of your life.

This’ why Jesus “was given a position “a little lower than the angels”; so as to connect us with God Almighty with our ability to tap into our power source with the use of His name.

Whatever you are seeing in the midst of your problems in life is what you will always have the tendency to proclaim.

When you see Jesus as the Healer, His name will always manifest healing for you. If you see Him as the Deliverer, then His name will work to bring you deliverance in the time of trouble.

The name of Jesus is able to do for you whatever you are believing in Him for.

Names Identifies you!

Oftentimes in the scriptures we see God changing the names of people, who had been chosen and called by Him to fulfill His purposes.

Abram’s name was changed to Abraham. Jacob was changed to Israel. Simon received the name Peter; and Saul of Tarsus was later named Paul.

They all walked in the calling of God for their lives in accordance with the names that they had received from God.

Abraham was called the father of many nations, Israel – the Prince of God, Peter – little rock, Paul – the Humbled, and Jesus’ name identifies Him as the Savior.

The new names identified them for what they all did and accomplished in their individual calling.

Jesus gave us His name as the identifier for the enemy to recognize us. The Bible says of the early believers in Antioch:

“And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭11:26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The name of Jesus and the anointing that was upon Him became an identifier for all believers in Antioch.

The early disciples of Jesus Christ were recognized for doing what Jesus did.

It is still the same today. The name – Christians, connects us with what Jesus did while on the earth.

We are all called to live and act like Jesus everywhere we go. We carry the name of Jesus with us everywhere we go, and in everything that we do.

His anointing manifests through our lives whenever we put His name into use.

The name of Jesus is the most powerful name that was, that is and forever will be in the three known worlds of human beings, angels and demons.

The Bible says:

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Have faith in His Name.

It is your faith in the name of Jesus to do what you believe in Him to do for you as you call on His name, that manifests His power for you.

Every believer in Jesus Christ do have faith (Romans 12:3). And our faith always works whenever it is put into action.

As Peter puts it after the miracle of the crippled man by the Beautiful Gate:

“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The importance of our faith to work in manifesting the power of God cannot be overemphasized. We do have the seed of faith, which is planted in us through the word of God (Romans 10:17).

There is also the Spirit of faith (1 Corinthians 12:7&9), which works as a gift of the Holy Spirit through those who are filled with the Holy Spirit.

Either of these two is vital for the name of Jesus to manifest the glory of God.

The gift of the Spirit of faith is a supernatural gift of the Holy Spirit. It is given at the pleasure of God to whom he wants to give it to (1 Corinthians 12:11).

Faith in this manner works with other gifts of the Holy Spirit, when we use the name of Jesus. The working of miracles, healing, signs and wonders takes place in this manner.

An example of this is the miraculous healing that took place by the Beautiful Gate (see Acts 3:1-16).

That’s why it is important for us as Christians to be seeing, whatever we desire from God always with the eyes of faith, especially as we are calling on the name of Jesus.

If you want healing, you need to be seeing healing by the stripes of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:24), and not the sickness or ailment.

The Devil often likes to deceive people away from their healing, by creating in their mind an image of their physical situation. He does this for the purpose of defeating them and preventing them from receiving healing from God.

There’s an empowerment that comes to you as you’re using the name of Jesus, even during the time of your meditation on scriptures.

If you can see yourself healed, you can call yourself healed and thereby receive your healing by using your faith to take hold of it.

Faith and Hope in His name.

How do you take a hold of something that you cannot see?

There is no other way of doing this apart from by faith in His name.

This was exactly how Peter explained the healing of the man by the Beautiful Gate (see Acts 3:16).

The Bible describes what faith is for us:

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Faith in the name of Jesus works through hope to manifest the expectation of your heart. Hope came when we first believed:

“We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it).”
Romans‬ ‭8:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

From the moment your faith became active when you first believed, you knew that the name of Jesus whom you confessed as Lord is able to do greater things for you.

Paul again wrote to the Romans:

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭15:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Confident hope was working in Peter as he commanded the crippled man to rise up and walk.

The name of Jesus works miracles by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let His Name saturate your heart.

Jesus once said:

“A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It is absolutely impossible to hide what you believe. When people come asking for prayer, and they are asked what they want from God, there had been times when some will say: “Nothing in particular” or “I don’t know”.

And my response will either be to bypass such people or advise them to start believing God for something. There is no way that they can expect someone else to stand in agreement with them in prayer, when they do not know what they want from God.

Faith does not work in an atmosphere like that doesn’t know the will of God.

The name of Jesus is able to do anything for us, if only we will believe in His name.

There is no way one Christian can override the will of another Christian with the prayer of agreement.

No matter what anyone may say in the prayer of agreement with another person, God can only and will only honor the desire of the person in need of the agreement itself.

Unfortunately, many have often used this as an excuse to say that God never answers prayers. No, God can never override the will or desire of any human being.

Get to know what you want from God, before asking other believers in Christ Jesus to stand in agreement with you.

Jesus once saw a crippled man by the pool of Bethesda (John 5), who was in a situation like this. He had a circumstantial and conditional faith in his heart for over thirty-eight years about healing.

He was unable to change anything in his life with that kind of image, until Jesus found him out and helped him to release his faith for healing.

His only excuse was that he had no one to help him into the water on time for his healing.

This man never believed God for someone to help him all of his adult life, so no one showed up to help him until Jesus came to him.

There are many people like this whose hope and faith for healing is hanging on their circumstances in life. They will blame everyone else but themselves for their troubles in life.

And as long as they are harboring animosity in their hearts towards others, their faith will never work. They are often holding on to anger, lack of forgiveness, disappointment and lack of trust towards others. They cannot receive from God because of this.

The name of Jesus removes every circumstance in our lives, from the moment that we believed in Him.

Our lives as believers are never designed by God to be dependent on others, but on the name of Jesus alone.

The man by the pool eventually acted on the word of Jesus to him. He had the blueprint for healing but had never been able to gain access to healing until Jesus showed up.

Jesus taught him to start acting like a healed man, and to stop giving excuses. When he obeyed Jesus, he was healed.

His Name always works.

The Bible says:

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs to it and is safe and set on high [far above evil].”
‭‭PROVERBS‬ ‭18:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The righteous man is able to call on the name of Jesus and receive what he wants by calling on His name.

He sees himself seated on the high places in heaven with Christ Jesus by calling on His name.

The power in the name of Jesus works for us, as we see ourselves in His name. You can now start calling whatever you are expecting the name to manifest for you.

Not only do you need to be confessing what the word of God says concerning you in that particular condition.

Your daily confessions in your conversation with people must change to match up with your heart’s desire.

When you’re acting by calling on the name of Jesus as the healer, you will be healed.

There is so much abundance and blessing in His name to give you whatever you desire.

Healing in the Name of Jesus.

I remember a mentally sick lady in one of our Churches in Europe. She had only been taught to believe in the name of Jesus, and to daily fall in love with Jesus by seeing herself in the Bible.

Firstly, she stopped smoking by overcoming the desire for nicotine through the reading and studying of her Bible.

Whenever the desire to get some cigarettes comes upon her, she just began to read out loud to herself the scripture promises that she had written out.

She had learnt to do this by practicing scriptural reading on her own through the habit of a daily confession.

She was eventually delivered from nicotine.

This initial victory caused her to be adamant for more victories by learning to use the name of Jesus.

As she began to learn how to call on the name of Jesus, she noticed that the evil voices and desires that were disturbing her vanished.

She finally on her own learned to call on the name of the Lord, whenever she started hearing evil voices.

After a while her psychiatrist came with her visiting nurse to her Church, so as to find out what prescription medication she was getting from the Church.

They found out that her sanity was returning back, but they could not explain it.

They were both offered the invitation to be attending the Church services; and to be listening to the word while they were observing what’s going on during the Church services.

Within two weeks the laboratory technician, who does a weekly blood test on this sister got saved also.

She testified that she couldn’t explain what happened to the sick sister, who happened to be her neighbor.

She knew she had not been taking her medication, because her blood test showed it.

How she got her sanity restored became a mystery that only the name of Jesus could explain.

The Bible tells us also of Nebuchadnezzar, when he lost his sanity and how he got it restored by God. The king explained how he got his sanity back:

““After this time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored the one who lives forever. His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal.”
‭‭Daniel‬ ‭4:34‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Nebuchadnezzar learnt to praise and worship the Most High God. As he looked up to the name of the Lord, his sanity was restored.

He had learnt from this to honor God and got his sanity fully restored.

Lifting up the name of Jesus in your life can heal and deliver you. It can deliver those suffering from one kind of addiction or another.

Let His Name radiate through you.

The scriptures say:

“The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1:3-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The name of Jesus is greater than any other name in heaven, on earth and under the earth.

Begin to speak to yourself what you believe His name to do for you.

Visualize yourself in that position of authority in Christ Jesus and never allow the enemy to steal, that image of what the name of Jesus is bringing to you concerning your life.

Since you had received Jesus as the Lord and Savior into your life, you do have the very same glory of Jesus in you.

Jesus prayed for us before His ascension:

“And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began…I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:5, 22-23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

By using the name of Jesus in prayer, the glory of God manifests through your life, for the world to see and believe in Him.

You do have Jesus inside you.

That is why the authority that He gave to you scares the evil one every time you call on that name. Whenever the enemy sees you, he sees Jesus also.

No believer in Christ Jesus can ever exercise authority in the name of Jesus outside of the human body.

Only a living person can exercise authority in His name and not the dead. A lifeless body is of no use in exercising authority in the name of Jesus.

The Devil knows this. That is why he seeks to possess any living human body.

But by being filled with the Holy Spirit, you are able to prevent and stop Him.

God does nothing on earth without a living human being.

That is why every human being has received names which identifies us out in the spiritual world for the angels.

God knows you by your name, just as the enemy knows you as well, and he trembles in fear of who you are in Christ Jesus (James 2:19).

All you need to do as a believer in Christ Jesus is to begin exercising the authority, that you do possess to walk and reign in victory here on earth from now on. Amen!

Thank you fir this. I have reinforced my faith as I ready myself to evangelize in my city. Also this is what I’ve used to dialogue with another over the internet regarding the church resting in the finished work of Christ, yet not doing anything in the culture because of believing that God is Sovereign. My stance is that we are to go forth resting in only that which Christ has done, will do, and is going to do, While demonstrating His Love by doing Isaiah 58 and 61 and Matthew 10 etc. This doing nothing in regard to culture because God is Sovereign is why the culture is going to hell. The church is packed and waiting by the door fir the rapture instead of salting the culture and beaming with the brightness of His Glory. God bless you.

Even though I haven’t finished reading thru whole passage, I am touched to know the power we possess as true believers of Jesus Christ and we should be transforming our environment with the power and authority we have at our display to change our life, and environment. Thanks, You. May His light continue to Shine on you.
