“The heart of the wise will easily accept instruction. But those who do all the talking are too busy to listen and learn. They’ll just keep stumbling ahead into the mess they created.”
Proverbs 10:8 TPT
Wisdom is the most valuable treasure of the earth, to the extent that even a fool thinks that he has it.
A natural man will often look at the world around him in search of wisdom, because that is all he can see and relate with. He is incapable of seeing through the open door of faith into the wisdom of God.
And that explains why he is more aligned to the world. The wisdom of God is unattainable to him. Anything that is not feasible to the people of the world around him is impossible for him to accept.
Even when he sees God’s wisdom through His written word, a natural man thinks that it’s foolishness. He will not accept it as wisdom. God’s wisdom is so close to him, but he’s unable to accept it until his destruction comes.
As the Prophet Jeremiah once said: “…he shall not see when good things come.” (Jeremiah 17:5). The goodness of God and His prosperity are all around him, but he is unable to tap into it because of his lack of wisdom.
We do know that if something is meant to be worth anything within the world’s economic system, the economists often tell us that the law of scarcity in supply and demand, will affect the value that is placed on it.
Accordingly, the law of supply and demand says that, when you have many people chasing after a scarce commodity, the value that is placed on it will keep on appreciating.
The wisdom of God is scarce and it’s only those, who are willing to pay the price to get it that are actually tapping into it.
That’s why even though many Christians are chasing after godly wisdom on a daily basis; it’s only a few who are prepared to pay the price for the sacrifice which goes with getting it. Those who are sacrificing certain things to get wisdom in life are getting wiser.
These few Christians are the only ones who are actually gaining access into it, even though God’s wisdom is available to every single one of His children.
The value on the wisdom of God is very high. It is much costlier than the silver and gold. There is no amount of money that can get it for anyone. But Jesus had paid the ultimate price already for you to be able to gain access into the wisdom of God.
It is the ability of the believers in Christ to get access into God’s presence, that gets them wiser from their time of fellowship with Him (Hebrews 10:19-23).
The unsaved world thinks that it’s hard and difficult to get God’s wisdom. To many of them it’s impossible to be a real follower of Christ. The power of sin and its works of evil has blinded them from seeing what God has freely given them.
God is not difficult to find, nor is He complicated. It is not difficult to get into fellowship with Him, as long as there is a sincere desire in you to develop a relationship with Him. God is longing to pour all of His wisdom into your life.
On the contrary it is the world that is actually complicated and so full of confusion. Life with Christ Jesus is very simple, but it can only be discovered when you open your heart to Him.
The world today is so confused and unstable. The only thing that has stability in the world today is the Christ centered life. And by living the life of Christ faithfully, you will find the wisdom of God, which nothing in this unstable world can give to you.
Get intimately connected with God.
We do know that the man who is intimately connected with God, depends on Him alone as the source of wisdom. His relationship with God connects him with the wisdom for living successfully on the earth.
The wisdom of God is too high for the carnal minded person to chase after, because its origin is not of this world. It’s from the very God who created the heaven and the earth. As the scriptures says:
“The Lord by wisdom founded the earth.
By understanding He established the heavens.
By His knowledge the depths were broken up,
And clouds drop down the dew”.
Proverbs 3:19-20 NKJV
The God who created the earth and everything in it is the only One who has custody of all the wisdom that we need to live a prosperous life in it.
That was why Jesus in reference to the rich young man, who could not follow Him said to His disciples:
“ .. Children, how hard it is for those who trust in (worldly) riches to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
Mark 10:24b-25 NKJV
The rich young man was offered the wisdom of God freely by Jesus, which he found very hard to swallow. He saw the wisdom that Jesus offered to him, as not being popular. The wisdom that Jesus offered the young rich man is not common, so he rejected it.
The wisdom from Jesus never made any sense at all to him. He truly wanted to follow Jesus, but he could not forgo his own wisdom for God’s. So, he rejected the scarce and rare wisdom of God, to follow what was already working for him at the time.
Those who are living by the wisdom of the world will acknowledge that, what may seem workable for them, does not necessarily work for everyone. God Almighty created us all differently. And people do have different ways of interpreting wisdom and applying it to their own benefit.
God has plans for each one of us on the earth. Plans that may be different for each one of us, because all men were created by Him to be different.
That’s why it’s dangerous for a child of God to be imitating the wisdom of men for living. Just because something works for someone, does not necessarily mean that it will work for you.
As a child of God, you had been created to live on this earth, by the wisdom that comes from God alone. God is the source of that scarce wisdom, which the carnal minded person can’t get.
That’s why the world will often come looking for God’s wisdom from you, even though they have no intention of using it at all. They will come to you so as to satisfy the inquisitiveness of their mind. They are seeking the wisdom that they do always acknowledge is beyond their reach.
Some might had heard it from your mouth, but they had ignored it because they were not prepared to pay the price for it. They’ve done the very thing that the rich young man did, in response to the wisdom from Jesus. They have ignored God’s wisdom from your lips, just because it’s not of this world.
As Jesus once said about them:
“ .. If they kept My word, they would keep yours also.”
John 15:20 NKJV
This means that for us to be able to tap into God’s wisdom, we must be intimately in fellowship with Him.
A person who is not walking in fellowship with God, will often look up to those around him for wisdom, when confronted with life’s problems. He will never seek godly wisdom, because he is wise in his own eyes.
Abiding in His word will make you wiser.
As the people of God, we do know that it is by meditating on the word of God, that our heart is opened up into His presence. You don’t need to be looking elsewhere for wisdom apart from His written word and His presence through prayer.
When we are practicing God’s presence as a lifestyle, His wisdom will flow through us.
Job figuratively described being in God’s presence like this:
“There is a mine for silver and a place where gold is refined. Iron is taken from the earth, and copper is smelted from ore.”
Job 28:1-2 NIV
The presence of God is the mine for silver. And the point of your meditation on His word, is where you will find refined gold. Gold that is refined in God’s presence, is costlier and much more valuable than anything else in the world.
The silver and gold of this world will always be devalued, as long as its source is from the system of this world. It will depreciate in value.
But the treasures that you discover in God’s presence are eternally yours. God’s wisdom never depreciates in value. And it’s your responsibility to protect it from slipping away from you. Whatever God gives to you personally should never be left vulnerable for the enemy to devour.
That’s why Jesus said:
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21 NIV
The moths and vermin of the world are all around you, to eat up and destroy whatever treasure you do have on this earth.
The only treasures that they cannot get access into, are the once that comes from the presence of God to you. The treasures of your heart are inaccessible to them. And those treasures are concealed in the wisdom of God for you.
The world may take away from you all of your valuables on this earth, but as long as you are protected by the wisdom of God within your heart, you will eventually surprise them when God’s wisdom, begins to give you back more than what they had taken away from you.
God’s wisdom is the treasure in you that is unavailable to the world. Guard it and protect it (Proverbs 4:23).
You must protect godly wisdom with tact in your heart, because when the day of trouble comes to you, and you are being confronted with troubles all around you, the wisdom of God that’s in your heart will always lift you up.
God’s wisdom will give you peace in the midst of the instability of the world around you. You will know for sure that no matter what happens, you will be better off tomorrow than today with the wisdom of God within you.
And no matter how low the trouble of the life causes you to fall, God’s wisdom will get you started and up again. It will get you back on track to start afresh, faster and quicker than when the trouble began. It will make you an amazement to those who are watching you. They will have cause to give God all the glory for everything concerning you.
That’s why the world will always be infuriated and intimidated by the prosperity of the righteous. They cannot figure out how and from where Christians are getting the wisdom, to be prosperous in the same world that they are living in. They do know that the wisdom in you is not from this world, so they are dazed by your success in life with it.
And of course, the devil will move them to start persecuting you, because everything that you are doing is not in accordance with the wisdom of this world. You are operating from a different perspective that is far beyond their understanding.
God’s presence is leading and directing you to where your “silver mine” is located. His wisdom guides you to the place where “true gold” is refined in God’s presence.
Meditation on God’s word takes you into His presence. It begins the process in your life of discovering the real silver and gold around you. Meditation on God’s promises will lead you into seeing, what your naked eyes cannot see.
If only Adam and Eve had learnt to meditate on the command of God to them, they would have been able to escape the temptation by the serpent. They had gold around them waiting to be refined in the presence of God (see Genesis 2:11-12).
Everything for their prosperity was all around them, but they gave up the blessing of God for a bite of the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden.
They could not see or even tap into God’s goodness with the power of His word, by meditating on what God had said to them and speaking it with their mouth to the serpent (Genesis 1:28-30).
They were rich, but because they were not meditating on the word of God, they roamed about in poverty around the riches that God had given to them. The serpent bewitched them away from the wisdom of God into sin and poverty. This is the spiritual situation of many people today on the earth and most especially within the Body of Christ.
Therefore, through biblical meditation:
“He (God) is wooing you from the jaws of distress to a spacious place free from restriction to the comfort of your table laden with choice food.”
Job 36:16 NIV
This is what the wisdom of God does to lead and guide you in His presence. His wisdom will give you the opportunity to be able to use your faith, to tap into what Adam and Eve could not get. His wisdom will guide you to your own spacious space that’s laden with choice food.
Are you tapping into God’s wisdom?
You see whenever God speaks to us while we’re abiding or meditating on His word, He speaks directly to our spirit man. And whatever He says to you will always fall in line with the Holy scriptures.
You cannot separate God’s voice from the holy scriptures. They will always agree with one another. To attempt separating them from each other is grossly evil. Being able to reconcile God’s word with His voice, is how a child of God is able to differentiate the voice of God from the voice of the devil.
Meditation on God’s written word helps you to discern and perceive the voice of God within your heart. It will help you to discern when God is speaking to you and when the Holy Spirit is speaking. You will be able to also recognize the voice of Jesus, as you keep meditating on His word. He will speak directly into your heart.
Meditation on the holy scriptures will revolutionize your spiritual life. Are you taking enough time out every day to do that? Or are you busying yourself with your daily chores, to the extent that you are shortening yourself of quality time with God?
Spiritual life becomes no longer mysterious to you from the very moment, when you step out by faith to start walking with God. From that moment of your life onwards, God can do anything at any moment and anyhow. The mysteries of God becomes no more a myth to you, as you begin to become aware of God’s presence with you.
Whatever you’re expecting from God can happen at any moment from then onward, because you would have taken your eyes away from relying on men and the world’s system, so as to start looking up to Him alone.
The devil’s voice may try to even imitate God’s voice to you. But as a child of God, you do know that the devil’s voice will always cause you to doubt God’s word. It will cause you to doubt God’s written word. That’s what the devil does always to lie and deceive people.
Whenever there is doubt in your heart about anything, that is not reconcilable with the holy scriptures, you know definitely that it’s not of God but of the devil.
That’s why a Christian must always ask himself questions like these before making decisions: What does the Bible say about what I am about to do? Am I doing this for a selfish reason or because someone else is doing it? Does this fit into the purpose of God for my life?
These are valid and legitimate questions to be asking yourself. And they do require the only answers to them from the holy scriptures.
We however can still spend so much time in God’s presence praying, so as to settle some of these questions. But God’s presence in this perspective means that we are staying focused on the holy scriptures as well. It also means that we are staying focused in prayer and worship.
The answer may not necessarily come on the first occasion of doing these things, but spending quality time in God’s presence requires that, we do these things as a way of life.
As you do these things constantly you will begin to learn, how to separate the voice of your spirit man from the voice of your flesh. You will begin to experience that your spiritual life is gradually changing also, even though you are yet to get the answer to your prayer.
This means that God is cooking something for you. You will have to be prepared for what God has in store for you. This is the moment to stay focused on target, by working closely with the Holy Spirit in your life. A lot of people have missed out on their blessing, by not being patient with God to work on them.
You can’t carry God’s blessing if your character is deficient of His holiness. God is holy and His blessing in your life is holy also. Everything that comes from God to you is holy, and they must be treated like that always. Everything from God to you is sacred.
But the flesh is weak (Matthew 26:41). That’s why the devil finds it easier to manipulate the works of the flesh against you. He works through the mind that is not being renewed, to cause you to sin against your flesh and eventually deprive you of God’s wisdom. That’s his only way of defeating any child of God.
This is why the renewal of your mind is very important. You can’t stand up against the wiles of the devil, if you’re not renewing your mind with God’s word always (Ephesians 6:11).
Always ask yourself this question as you are making decisions: Is this decision in line with the word of God?
This is how you can always know if you’re following the Lord with your everyday decision.
If you’re not sure, then you will need to continue searching the scriptures patiently, until the Lord points you directly through His written word in guiding you to it. That’s how the flow of God’s wisdom into your heart begins.
Don’t let the devil put you under pressure to make decisions. God is never in a hurry about anything. He has all of the time and eternity in His hand. So why can’t you be patient. Be patient to tap into the wisdom of God.
The whole world can be running all around against you, but you will need to be patient in dealing with them. God is never late. He is always on time.
Remember the sin of King Saul when he failed to wait on Samuel before God’s altar. It was the mistake that brought about the beginning of the end to his reign as King over Israel. The Scriptures says:
“And Samuel said, “What have you done?” Saul said, “When I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered together at Michmash, then I said, ‘The Philistines will now come down on me at Gilgal, and I have not made supplication to the LORD.’ Therefore, I felt compelled, and offered a burnt offering.” And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which He commanded you. For now, the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom shall not continue. The LORD has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the LORD has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you.”
I Samuel 13:11-14 NKJV
Saul felt compelled to disobey God. What a shameful thing to even say! He actually took the pressure from the enemies (the Philistines). Don’t ever allow the devil to see you sweat.
That was exactly what happened to Saul. The enemies in front of him applied the pressures of attacking his army, so as to force him to sin against God. Due to his lack of patience he began to fall and lost his integrity before God.
Don’t let your soul push you to make decisions that are against God’s word. Don’t let the enemy compel you to rush into making decisions. The devil wants you to act like a fool in God’s presence. Get your mind renewed with God’s word. Crucify the flesh by praying in the spirit always (Romans 8:13).
Learning to spend more time in God’s presence through praise and worship, is a good way of taking your eyes off the temptations to sin in the flesh.
You will begin to learn how to silence the voice of your flesh, and of the mind that is yet to be renewed. This will open up your heart to hear God’s voice of wisdom.
So, stay on track. Get the wisdom from God alone to overcome the tough situations in front of you today. You will come out of it stronger than ever before in Jesus’ name. Amen!
